Hi

Here, at http://perso.wanadoo.es/jaimegs/amsmain.html, you will find some
new CDT files. Most of them are games -I think some of them have never been
previously released neither in CDT nor in DSK format: the spanish version of
Double Dragon, Air Cobra..., and some were already available at Vnomis page
(http://retroamstrad.galeon.com/).

Un saludo...

Great stuff,

Out of interest which util did you use to convert these ? (VOC2TZX) ?

Will you be uploading these to ADATE ?

Not sure if you are aware, but with luck Kevin Thacker will be taking on the
Amstrad CPC's equivelant
of The TZX Vault (Perfect Spectrum Tape Repository).
It might even be so that The TZX Vault will also host TZXs from different
platforms like CPC and C64.

I've been busy recently making CDT/TZXs of all Amstrad tapes that cross my path
and
sending them to Kevin.

Have you dumped any DSK images, and if so have you managed any copy protected
ones.
Like for instance Dragon Ninja - Imagine ?

Yes, it was Voc2tzx, althought I had problems to convert some protected
games -which I've not been able to do yet: i.e. Rocky, a spanish boxing game
not dumped even in DSK (I think).

Some of them are already at ADATE, these that were at Vnomis page. And for
the others, yes, I will upload them as soon as I have time...

I have dumped a hundred of games or so. Some of them are at Joseman's site,
http://www.terra.es/personal2/amstradweb/ (which also has some CDT files). I
will release them at our page within a few days. There is only one rare
game, one about water skiing.
The copy protected programs are a big problem for me, since I don't know how
to crack them. I use discology to copy the games from 3" to 3 1/2", and then
CPDRead to make the images. In a few days I will try to connect a 3" drive
to an old PC (my 4th attempt to do this), and if it works, perhaps I'll have
lots of copy protected games never released: Mike Gunner spanish disk
version, Viaje al Centro de la Tierra disk version (with a nice demo),
A-Team Gun-Stick disk version, Mundial de Fútbol disk version with demo, Sim
City spanish disk version... The success will only depend on CPDRead, not in
Discology any more.

Regards...

Have you tried to store them as WAV files until such time that we might
be able to develop decoders for VOC2TZX (that will, in the future handle,
VOC/WAV/CSW)

I've already done some tapes from my own recently aquired Tape and Disk
collection.
I'm also working with with Kevin Thacker and ADATE to provide perfect
TZX/CDT and DSK images.

I'm usually associated with Spectrum TZXs as I work closely with Steve Brown
(TZX Vault
Maintainer) and am a co-maintainer for WOS (World of Spectrum).
However we feel that TZXing for the spectrum will dry up as last year seemed to
be out
best year. We are going to also concentrate on Amstrad Tapes/Disks and also C64
(TAP)
software.

Cool, which reminds me, I still have more stuff to send to Kev ;-), I recently
realised that
some Data Errors with disks are part of the protection.

That's good really, becuase ADATE is looking for perfect backups, not
cracked titles :-)

Hmm, don't know how authentic this process would have the DSK images ?
I recently bought a FD1 unit and a working drive. I then hooked it up to
my older PC dedicated to all things retro.
I've dumped around 30 DSK images so far. A lot are protected disks like
Speedlock, Alkatraz and Hexagon schemes. Some work in Arnold/Caprice/WinAPE
to verify their working, and dump a screen image when using CPDRead just
for clarification.
I'm hoping that the DSKs that don't work can be sent to the authors to add
loading
of these protected DSKs into their emulators.

Well I can certainly offer assiatnce and advice for DSKs, infact I could even
dump DSK
images and make CDT's from tapes if anyone want's my help (eek, just given
myself
lots more work again ;-) ).
I've borrowed and TZXed a lot of spectrum tapes for people as part of the
STP (Spectrum Tape Preservation) project and am also able to contribute
to the SDP (Spectrum Disk Preservation) project.
I believe we're also starting an ATP and ADP (Tape & Disk) project
to help ADATE mature along with an association with The TZX Vault.

We're all interested in preservation so as far as we're concerned we're all on
the same team !

Hi, Andrew

Yes, I've done this with the game Rocky (I stored it as a VOC). But I've
found out something...
This game was made by Dinamic. In Spain it was published as "Rocky", in the
UK as "Rocco". "Rocco" has been released as a DSK image, but I didn't know
it was the same game because it didn't work on Arnold (nor on Caprice, I
think).
Some days ago I ran "Rocco" on MultiMachine. And it worked, and was
*exactly* the same game as "Rocky", as I've seen it on a real CPC.
So there's nothing new with this game, as it's available as DSK. Only one
thing is missing: the keys that allow you to play. I believe the DSK image
is not cracked, so you need the sheet with the keys. I'll scan it as I've
time...
One more thing: I loaded my VOC of "Rocky" on MultiMachine, and it worked!
So making the CDT is possible (as of now, I thought the problem was the
tape, but it was the emulator I used...)

I did it too some days ago. I attached a 3" disk drive to an old 486, and
succeded in making it work. But the games I was most interested in transfer
don't work ("Viaje al centro de la Tierra" and "Mundial de Fútbol") :-( I'm
starting to think the disks are corrupted (but they work on the real CPC the
80% of times I try them).

Regards..
