I've recently tried a Google search for CPC emus, and most of the ones
I downloaded (that will run on XP, either directly or in a DOSBox
session) have the CPCEmu problem that they can't emulate the screen
trickery used, so produce a garbled screen. (They also lack the
wonderful machine code monitor built in to CPCEmu, making them (to my
mind) pointless.)
The old Caprice that I had from those days displays the Odiesoft
screen (with wonderful surround-sound effects on my 4.1 speaker
setup ) and then crashes. The latest Caprice (as found in my search)
displays the Odiesoft screen *twice* and then crashes.
What should I download, and where from? (I have a 1.4Ghz dual-core
machine with 2Gb memory, so spec shouldn't be a problem.)
Have you tried WinAPE?

I have; it displays the Odiesoft screen and then resets.

I've done some more Googling (looking past the first page of results
this time) and
found that CPCE <http://cpce.emuunlim.com/cpc_zip.htm> works a treat.
According to what's reported here
(http://www.cpcwiki.com/forum/index.php/topic,120.new.html#new), there
may be a solution to it. Check the 2nd post.
Yhat does the trick; thanks.
