I'm about to install an X-Surf card into a box that will primarily run
Workbench3.1 (Video Toaster/Flyer) and I'm looking for a TCP/IP stack
that supports both (WB3.1 and the X-Surf). What are my options?

TIA!

I can personally attest to Miami Deluxe working well with the X-Surf.
Mine's now running with 3.9, but it shouldn't be a problem working with
3.1.

I would agree. I run OS3.9, x-surf, MiamiDX on an A4000T.

Is it possible to install Genesis on Workbench 3.1? Also, Miami DX seems
to be the popular choice but I keep hearing complaints about getting
licenses from Holger Kruse (sp?)...not sure if Sassenrath keeps him too
busy or he's just fed-up with something Amiga-ish.

So, my question is what TCP/IP stack, running under Workbench 3.1 is the
most stable and full-featured (stability being highest priority).

All TCP/IP Stacks, including AmiTCP, Genesis and Miami/MiamiDx work
well with OS3.1. Only the special version of Genesis delivered with
OS3.9 needs OS3.9. The original version uses MUI (as do AmiTCP and
Miami).

Hiall!

I'm *trying* to set up my son's X-Surf and MiamiDx, but am running into
problems. I think. If I run xsurftest, I get "nicht gefunden". Even I
know what that means (at least, what the phrase means - as to the
underlying conditions that produce it...?). If I follow the directions
in Miami9Dx.guide for using MNI drivers, regardless of which driver I
try (which *is* the correct one for x-surf? I seem to have lost the
documentation that refers to this...), the machine crashes and I have to
reboot.

In light of Holger & Co.'s busy schedule, and the resulting delays in
communicating with NordicGlobal, is there a way to update some MiamiDx
file so MiamiInit doesn't show "-- other device --", and instead
recognizes the X-Surf card?

Be sure that the card is well inserted... I had to try many slots because the
connector is "too much perfect" and didn't want to enter...

Then manually add an interface called ETH0 of type Ethernet with the above
driver, unit 300, into mni options write DUPLEX=HALF MEDIA=AUTO, in the mni
parameters press "query device".

Then you can use this interface! :-)

Have you had this setup running using the SANA-II drivers?
If not, I would try that first before using the MNI driver.
I have not seen much difference in performance.

Thanks, I'll try that. Last night I tried following Gian's instructions
and got the machine to reliably... crash during MiamiInit setup. (No
reflection on Gian, I'm sure something is different/wanked in my general
setup -- last night I also figured out why 1.44MB dos disks were causing
me so much trouble...)
