I have a batch file that compresses .ADF files to .ADZ files using 7-zip. If anybody here s a copy, simply pose ere, and I will post the file here. All I ask in exchange is information on some small and useful utilities (i.e. other batch files to perform file functions or .ADF-based quick manipulators).

Conversion ADF -> ADZ (or ADZ -> ADF) is not really a problem. ADZ is just
an zip archived ADF file. Can be done with any archiving utility able to
make ZIP archive (WinZIP, WinRAR, etc.)
By the way, only advantage of ADZ format is smaller file, but today is not
that much important. Any Amiga program (even without compression) is small
compared to modern PC programs.
More complicated is conversion DMS -> ADF, ADF -> dir or HDF -> dir. But,
all that can be easily done with ADF Opus.

I know what an .ADZ file is. My batch file simply acts as a simplified method to compress the source .ADF file to a .gz file using 7-Zip, change the extension to .ADZ and replace the original file. This bypasses the work to manually change the extension in the 7-Zip dialog box, make the other selections and click OK, then to delete the original file. This is even better if you have SendTo Toys, because you can append the batch file to the SendTo menu.

BTW, I've been having a hard time installing ADFOpus. Apparently the installer didn't write the settings properly. I have a similar problem with another program.

BTW, I am bringing in to a day program a CD-RW packed with emulator games, including Amiga games. If I compress them, I'll be able to fit more games on the CD. Other than that, I like the numbers yeilded by compression. ;)
