Computer Answers of Saskatchewan, Canada has recently received a large
shipment of CD32s. CA is selling them for $368 and can ship them to the
States.

At that price, I believe they will sell very well and I'm glad to see that
they've arrived so soon. Hopefully, C= will have the CD32 attachments for
the 1200 and 4000 by February. This will encourage more CD32 software
development.

CA can be reached at: (306)764-5858

$368 CANADIAN?

Hmmm...That's about $250 American!!!!

Wow...I thought they were supposed to be more expensive?

You wish (and so do I! :-) :-) :-)

The $368 price is US dollars (or so I'm told by someone thru e-mail).
That works out to about $460 CDN.

Cool! But C= is going to have one *TOUGH* time in the US trying to get
places here to carry it. I just talked to a manager of a large software
chain (that had 3D0 in the store) and I asked if they were going to carry
any CD^32 products and all he said was "What's that?!".

After I explained it to him (in some detail, including the AGA chipset, 32
bit, Double speed CD-Rom drive, etc.) he seemed VERY skeptical. He said
no US chains would carry it - and said that the US will probably only have
the 3D0 and Jaguar (yes he mentioned that, but not CD^32!). He spouted on
about 3D0's large software support (which I admit it does have), but
didn't seem to believe me when I said that CD^32 would have 75 titles by
christmas (as promised by C= at WOCA, according to AC). He didn't say it
outright, but seemed very skeptical about it all. even when I quoted the
price (I said ~$400 US). So I think C= is going to have to dig in hard
over here and push the product to get both software and dealer support.

According to their ad in Amazing Amiga (oct. 1993, pp.63), the price
shown is in U.S. dollars ($368.00). Not $368.00 Canadian. There is also a
note in the ad saying that the price is variable depending on the exchange
rate. They will charge your card in Canadian unit, and you bank will
automatically adjust it according to the exchange rate of the day.

Sorry to disappoint you, but they are more expensive. How are they
going to play games that is in PAL? I play PAL games on my A4000, but I do
use a multiscan monitor with RGB, not composite. So what's going to happen?

Don't sound like this "manager" is interested in
making money. If it's true that roughly 400 3DO's
have been sold so far in the US, think about the
profit made from the 65000 CD32 units that were
sold the first two weeks in Europe.

The CD32 is cheaper and has _much_ more software
behind it. It's stupid of this store not to carry
it.

I'd like to know the NAME of this store!! Perhaps the "manager" was
uninformed of the store policy...or just didn't care!! I think I'd
like to write the Head Office and ask THEM about CD^32!! And then
question their decision NOT to carry it. If they persist with this
attitude...then I'll shop elsewhere...and tell them WHY!!
