Hi there knowledgeable people :-)

Since moving from a VGA monitor to a Microvitec 14" (Deltascan 1402), I have
had a very strange problem with DBL-PAL screens.Basically, after setting my
overscan prefs to fit the monitor, I found that my mouse pointer disappears
near the right hand edge (maybe 30 pixels).

It even happens when I run NOTHING else apart from a bare Workbench screen.

My set-up: A1200 + Blizzard 1240/40MHz + 16Mb Ram + Blizzard SCSI with
associated HD & stuff. Software wise: WB 3.0, latest AT SetPatch, & DOpus5,
amoung other things

Please help, Multiscan sucks! (and not everything can use it)

Any suggestions GRATEFULLY recieved.

BTW, messing with Overscan prefs does no help, nor did my amature fiddling
with MonEd...

Reduce your overscan a bit, I believe that will help.
(Overscan "steals" some DMA-time from sprites i.e. the mouse pointer)

Well, MonEd was your only chance here. I don't remember but fiddling with the
HS and HR or whatever these are called sliders should give you the expected
effect. Just fiddle a little more. It's normal. However, I don't know if this
will help with DblPal... I had this problem with Euro72 and fixed it this way
(way back when I had AGA :)

:-) Sorry for that grin but I couldn't do otherwise, i hve (had) the same
problem.

The problem that you have is another chapter of Commodores amazing and
strange world of Computers. This is the fault of the Gfx-Chip, the only
solution for this ist to cut with the OverscanPrefs the right 30 Pixels.
I don't think that there is any other solution. Under 3.0 I tried all
possible, but nothing worked, even the people of Commodore told me that
they know of the problem. Some rumours said that Rom3.1 fixes the
problem. I tried softkicking it gave the same problem, I didn't try the
WB 3.1 but I think it gives the same.

Sorry for that

I have a A1200 etc.

With kickstart 3.1 and WB3.1 I solved that minor problem.

I think the problem is in kickstart 3.0, because I used to use WB3.1 and
kickstart 3.0 and that didn't help jack shit.

So the solution is: Kickstart 3.1 (V40.68) and WB3.1 (V40.42), at least for
A1200. If believe that if you have A2000/A3000/A4000 you should get different
versions for the kickstart, or else they won't work :((

There is: mirror the mousepointer on a vertical line, move the
sensitive point to the top right corner. Like this the mouse stops
before its sprite leaves the area, where it still will be diplayed !
People are usually surprised: "Hey that mouse pointer is ... the
other way round !"

P.S.: I also use Patchpointer to have the Pointer in Hires.
