IIRC, 640x480 at 256 colours at 31 KHz. However there are tweaked
drivers, there is one on aminet for 800x600 I think, but I never got to
test it (my CD32's crappy WD hard disk died).

You can run that on Winuae, but not on an A1200 AFAIK.
And that will be amazingly faaaaaaast with AGA, right ? :)

I think overscanned Multiscan Productivity with 64 colours was the
best screenmode when I was still using AGA. It didn't flicker much,
it was fast enough and WB can make 64 colour screen look surprisingly
good too.

Personally I used DblNTSC in 32colors, tweaked a bit it gave like 64Hz
or something.. I considered that as useful then..
But I must say that my first Gfx-card (a CV64 4Meg) was the best buy I
ever made for my Amiga..

Actually, the highest availble A1200 res (without hacking the AGA drivers)
is Super72 800*600*256 colors @ 72 Hz refresh not including overscan. There
are plenty of AGA hacks on Aminet to get you even higher. But the trade off
is lower than normal refresh (in the 40Hz range). Not good for text or
Workbench use - but OK for photos in HAM8 mode.
My personal fav is Super83. This increases the refresh in the normal AGA
800*600 Super72 mode from 72Hz to 83Hz by sacrificing overscan. This
results in greatly reduced flicker. Pretty good for browsing since 800*600
is a standard display mode for other platforms so there's no point in oscan
to 832*620 (iirc). It's a little slow in 256 colors (for browsing) without
an 060. But drop down to 128 or 64 colors and it moves along pretty well.
Great for photos in HAM8 mode.
I've used 2 different hacks on Aminet for 800*600 AGA. One is Super83 which
only changes the 800*600 mode without effecting any of the other AGA modes.
The other is included with a batch of AGA monitor files for the 1440 monitor
which originally could not sync to normal Super72 mode. The advantage to
the 1440 set of AGA monitor drivers is that it centers all the other video
modes so that you don't have to adjust the vertical or horizontal dials when
switching screen modes. And it also creates square pixels for normal NTSC
and PAL displays (using o-scan) so that you get increased resolution even on
1084 or similar video-only monitors. It doesn't mess with the refresh rate
so you have perfect 50Hz and 60Hz as required. Also, the driver set for the
1440 monitor allows you to adjust each screen mode via tooltype to suit
your monitor. Great job - I wish I could remember the name of the fellow
that did the 1440 driver mods. I'm using those right now with a plaim Amiga
1084S monitor (NTSC and PAL only) and previosuly with an Amiga M1764
(including Super83). It's not as good as a BVision card. But it fine
tunes AGA so you get the most out of it........joe
I used to have an A1200 through a microvitec 1438, and I ran WB at. (IIRC)
862x632 with overscan
my memory is somewhat flaky on the issue...
