that holds some good cheats for DUNE2 on Amiga?????

this is the only cheat I found ..

When you get to the stage where you have no cash left and there is
no spice to be collected, send your harvester to the enemy camp.
It will be destroyed, another one will replace it and you'll
receive seven credits. You can repeat this as many times as you
like.

To harvest spice in no time at all click on a harvester who is
harvesting spice and keep clicking on him. The percentage of spice
harvested goes up for each click on the harvestor. This save both
time and money.

But I think the game was fairly playable :) only the very last one
(where you fight the emperor and the other 2 opposing houses)
I always ended up getting rid of 2 of them but the last one breaking
my neck ...

It's actually very easy to cheat yourself, just find
a simple hexadecimal texteditor (like on aminet) and
grab your calculator (scientific).
Note the amount of money you have on a piece of paper
and save your game as a new savegame.

Now start, preferably fileX, a hexadecimal editor
and load the last of the savegame files in the dune2
directory, look for your amount of money in HEX and
change it to 1FFF. Reload the save game and spend the
money on destructive toys.

It happens right after you build the very firts building. However, there is
a very effective way to cheat the limit of money. Before you save your game,
you have to build at least one refinery. Then save your game. In this way
you set up the limit of spice storage in your base, which is 2000 for a
refinery. Now use some hex editor (e.g. Hex) and you gotta find three
things: first the money you have - I needn't explain how, must I? - then you
gotta find the limit of spice storage. As you know it is 2000 you should
find it. But you won't... Simply because it is written in PC way (like money
in Colonization), so you need to reverse the bytes: 2000 is 07D0 (hex; check
it out - I may be wrong), so the byte you are looking for is D007. And this
byte needs to be changed twice (that's why I wrote you gotta change 3
things). Both the reversed 2000 values are close to each other (probably on
the same screen)and they are not difficult to find. I changed all 3 addresses
to 7FFF (hex). In this way you got more than 32000, which is probably enough
to have fun. There's one more advantage of making a single refinery store so
much - you don't need silos nor new refineries (but remember to defend it, as
if the refinery is destroyed you lose ALL money). It IS useful - there's
nothing more irritating in this game than 'Unable to create more' info. And
instead of those unnecessary refineries and silos you can build e.g. a few
rocket turrets...
I haven't tried to do the same thing with energy (just imagine one windtrap
supplying the whole base...), but I think it's possible. It would be cool if
someone found how to omit the units limit (No more 'Unable to create more'
infos is almost a dream).
If anyone has some other tricks about Dune I'd be gravely concerned to get
them.
And I have a question - what is the most important factor while the score is
counted? I cannot reach my hiscore (Atreide, the last mission, 1700 and
something points - without cheating), even if I cheat like hell, and try
everything.
Another question - has anyone, playing Ordo house, managed to capture a
worm using a deviator? Is it possible? If yes, what are the command - e.g.
devour?

That's cool, hadn't thought about hacking anything more than money.
One windtrap is interesting (and risky) but It would free up
some unable-to-create-more space.
I know this is possible in the (spit) peecee follow up C&C and it's
savegames are virtually identical.

Unable to create more?? That is because the DuneII has a limit of X buildings
and X units. This is cool, cause then you can play the same on every machine.
The problem is that on big expanded machines, it is usually more fun having
LOTS of units and buildings. What do you think???

The reason I am asking, is because we are making a realtime war-strategy game
now, and would like to know what you prefer. A limit, so the levels will just
allow X units, or let the units be dynamically allocated, thus giving you
LOTS?

LOTS. The limit should be how many you can afford to build, or how much spice
there is to mine or something like that. If you want to discourage outrageous
stockpiling of tanks and such then do something like a "maintenance cost" per
machine. For a strategy game like Dune 2 or Command and Conquer the PLAYER
should decide how many units is too many, not the computer by some arbitrary
limit. If it's a "resource management" game, then LET THE USERS MANAGE
THEIR RESOURCES! Don't second guess the users like Dune 2 did.

Ah, my choice exactly :-) The problem is of course that the levels will be
easier for the user(s) with low memory, when the computer doesn't grab a meg
of unit structures since we let it have plenty of cash to start with :-)
Nah, just kidding, in our game, the computer actually have to start up like
you do. With one building, and NO idea where the 'spice' is, or the enemy.
Might have to give the computer some advantages in the latter stages.
