You spell great and forgot to mention that *ALL* Amigas can be updated in
some way.

Tomorrow's technology ten years ago!
Yeah, that message did need to be decoded and reminded me of a number of
AOL users I've corresponded with, but his fundamental point was that the
main tech of the A500/2000 is underpowered. This is obvious and all, I just
wanted to make something for these old machines that might inject some life
into 'em..

Well, I understood it. But then, I've been up all night again.

: Can some-one tell me how to decode this message? Is it in ROT-13 or
: something? Please let me know because it looks really interesting.

Hahahaha ROTFL!

: Citadel is a doom clone, and it works on any Amiga

"Any?" I know it's a bit ridiculous to ask, but will that work on an
A500 with even a 1 meg Agnus? I was feeling super to be able to try
Nathan's demo of a Doom-ish engine, but it requires 2 megs of Chip Ram,
according to the .readme file. I know it's expecting more than quite a
bit to ask for DOOM on an A500, but it would be cool all the same. And,
where can Citadel be had? Is there a demo, or is it strictly commercial?
Moo.

Yep! Any Amiga with 1MB. It's a commercial game to be released soon.
I have a demo here. However it looks just a bit too slow, even for
an A500, with about 1-2 fps on the larger screen sizes, and about 16 fps
on the smallest (which unfortunately is about 20x20 pixels). These
figures are my estimates from playing on my good old A500.

To put them into comparison, our latest release Virtual Karting for AGA
machines run at 25fps on a standard A1200, full-screen, 1*1/2*2 detail!
and 50fps on a clock doubled 020 processor or above! :) But, then
again our texture mapping is the fastest ever seen on an Amiga, faster
than Gloom, Fears, and AB3D at the same screen sizes and detail levels ;)
I still think figures of double or three times that for the A500 are
possible and might make Citadel playable.

Yes, but VK only has one plane to work with, the floor.
So not really a particularly fair comparison..
: Wow, I agree, those speeds sound a bit too slow for even an A500. Why
: are the figures so bad ?

Hmm, I'm not so sure. The doom games have far more to draw on screen, thus
slowing it down, whereas VK is just rotating and scaling a flat plane. It
does it very well though. =)

Again I'm not so sure. Perhaps with 4 or 8 colours.
