Seems to work great with Super Skidmarks with four joysticks connected to
Amiga (we're gonna have 8 players simultaneous with serial linkup and all
with joysticks, yay!). Also Blitzbombers, Max Rally and Kickoff2 seems to
support it, but is there any other nice multiplayer games supporting it?
From what I remember Nathan Wain saying on this group, Hired Guns supports
it and should provide a lot of fun for you and your friends.
All the best,

Good call. I made mine by booting up Gauntlet 2 and grounding various
pins on the parallel port to see what they each did. (note to
horrified readers: I did know the pinouts for parallel port already, I
didn't want to blow up the machine.) :)

Yeah, Hired Guns works well, but you really need to have people
willing to learn the game. That was the main problem here .. it
wasn't pickup-and-play .. and there was always one or two people in
the group who just didn't get it. Blowing up the other players was
fun tho. hehe..
So, my personal picks for this stuff:
Super Skidmarks - of course .. note that you can use the Skidmarks 1
track disks too, and try some of the downloadable cars on aminet: I
like the wheelchair, hovercraft, and motorbike with sidecar.
Gauntlet 2 - simple fun dungeon crawling .. if you ever have only 2
players, "Knights" on aminet is a fun romp too.
Bratwurst - on aminet .. kinda like asteroids / gravity multiplayer
deathmatch .. l like it best when you agree on the same ship .. that
little triangle cheese-wedge like one is lots of fun.
Master Blaster 2 - on aminet again .. unregistered version has limits,
and I'm not aware that a key for it was ever released .. is an older
version that was fully functional tho.
I highly highly recommend these aminet titles by Matthias Bock:
Minerunner - Loderunner from the old Apple2/c64 perfectly ported with
up to 4 simultaneous players. Much confusion and hilarity ensues as a
result. hehe.
Zerberk - a version of Berzerk, just with 4 players added again.
Simple but still fun.
Monsters of Terror - Wizard of Wor, but now with 4 players instead of
2, and gorgeous AGA graphics. Sounds are ripped directly from the c64
version for retro goodness. Has an enhanced mode with powerups. Lotsa
fun.
Poweroids - Asteroids with 4 players. Has a 'deathmatch' game mode too
IIRC. Has hires modes too, if you want a larger play area.
...he also did an excellent version of Stargate/Defender called
Stardefender, but that's single player only. <checks www> Ah, nice:
his webpage had disappeared a while ago, but it's back: http://www.lazycow.de/
full versions of these games are there.
Oh, then there's AirTaxi, on Aminet. That one's a lot of fun. (clone
of SpaceTaxi, and a very good one .. up to 5 players too (four on
joysticks, one on keyboard.))
Viper (on aminet) is a fun multiplayer snake game .. but is keyboard
only. :| Maybe a joy-to-keyboard program would do the trick (um, if
such a thing existed for the four-player adapter.)
6-Tris - Tetris, but for up to 6 players. The games can play simply as
individual games, or against adjacent players, or against all
players. A nice version of tetris too, IMHO.
Oh, there is a version of Hired Guns (the demo) on Aminet too, in case
you want to try that. There's also a construction kit lying around
somewhere I must try out sometime. hehe.
Oh, if you like the Bomberman games, try "Dynablaster" too .. a
commercial game. Plays very very similar to Masterblaster in the
multiplayer mode. Masterblaster just has so many more powerups and
other stuff (diseases, shrinking mazes, etc.) that make it crazy fun
for multiplayer games.
XTreme Racig is a Mario Kart type of game that supports four players
on one computer, and either four or eight players via link-up. (long
long time since I tried the linkup, so I'm not sure about that one.)
A lot of fun once you work out what the nice tracks are (IMHO some of
the tracks are crap) .. I like the Christmas Demo one best, which can
be incorporated into the main game.
Oh, and finally there's Bug Bomber .. it's a Bomberman/Masterblaster
variant with more complex weapon types (a simple bomb, mines, homing
missles, and various eggs which hatch into creatures to hurt the other
players.) Definitely different enough from the other Bomberman games
to be worth a look.
Hmmmmm... That's all the multiplayer ones I can think of now. I
think that's all of them. I do recall a soccer game, but I think that
was Kickoff 2, which you already mentioned. I'm not familiar with Max
Rally, so maybe I need to check that one out next time I'm toying with
WinUAE.
I'm almost tempted to talk about link-up games, but maybe that's a
topic for another thread. hehe.
Nathan.
Nice! :-)

Doesn't Napalm (http://www.clickBOOM.com/napalm/) support it? I know you
can play via link-up.

Many thanks,

That's true... and I'm one who isn't that keen on that type of games ;)

Have to try this. I never liked it that much with two players.. I didn't
like the zooming so close etc :) But with more players it could be fun.
I also have to try other Aminet games mentioned. Especially Monsters of
Terror sounds like fun, at least for me, who was big WOW fan 20 years ago
;)

Ok, just a second ;)

No, Napalm is played with mouse/keyboard. But it's one of the best serial
linkup games ever anyway :)
