Get it from aminet, demo/tp95/CNCD-Closer.lha
It needs AGA, and a fair whack of fastmem. It won the best demo award at the
party, BTW. =)
I might as well also say that -
2nd place was Oxygene1(+2).lha - very good
and 3rd was Faktory.lha - I think that's the right filename anyway.
All recommended by me. ;)
I've seeeen it! =:) Veyr nice it is too - however, the size is partly to do
with how good it is - Over 4 megs if I remember! They put 1 meg anim, alone,
just for the credits!!
Pity it uses blitter screen <sob>! (Virtual Karting like `chequered` look)
One of the most impressive demos I own...
I would be suspect of the "real time" bits - aleast some of it is probably an
anim or huge amounts of pre-calced stuff... (where did all that over 3Mb go?)

I agree, it`s about twice the size of most demos, and although long, is
too large for them all to be real time effects. Great demo of what an
expanded Amiga can do though.
Dave
: wtf are you talking about, I want it... :)
It's a demo by a demogroup called CNCD which won The Party 5 demo
competition in Denmark this Xmas. 5meg HD space, and at least 2megfast
needed, although it should _theoretically_ run on a normal A1200, I
think. I never managed it. 030 recommended. :)
The graphics artist for this demo has worked for Bloodhouse, and did a
lot of the graphics for Super Stardust, btw. And Elfmania, I think. :)
It's available on Aminet in the demo/tp95 directory, or at ftp
i41s20.ira.uka.de, the Papa demo archive, in pub/TheParty95. 3 lha files.
And it's reviewed in the current issue of Amiga Format.
hum, a little off-topic, maybe. The 2nd placed demo, Oxygene "Vision",
had a really cool spaceship race part, a bit like Wipeout on da
Playstation. oo, that'd make a nice game. :) The demo needs 4megfast, btw.
Regards,
h0l.

When is it? The quality & amazingness of AGA demos has really increased in
the last 2 or so years - people have started requiring Fast memory, and even
an 030 ; this suits me just fine, as you may guess from my sig :))
I can`t wait for the stuff to start arriving on the Aminet! If good enough, I
might even buy it on CD.
Only downer is that some git (only kidding;) made a demo for only an 040 and
an FPU!!! Should be some demo.....
: I would be suspect of the "real time" bits - aleast some of it is probably an
: anim or huge amounts of pre-calced stuff... (where did all that over 3Mb go?)
Indeed credits and some backgrounds are animations but apart from that it's
all real time calculated.

I know there wasn't much new but it is thee most system-

They aren`t at the Aminet I think. I got the 4. place at the Party.
I don`t know anything about the 8. place.

You've got to be kidding. Its one of the slowest Tmap
at tp95, granted they have optimized the code since
their last demo, but if the demo isn't running fluidly
on the machine that the democompeticion says is base then
they have exagerated their objects.
Why not just use smaller objects and get the fps up ?
Just my opp.
Um, AB3D is HD installable, as is Gloom Deluxe.
AB3D is *far* better than Nemac 4 as well. I can't say for Breathless as I
haven't seen it, but I'd say that AB3D II will kick its butt to
next Christmas..

2 or 3 weeks ago, they're saving the big guns for The Gathering. Maybe

Oh no, but I thought I would be a good introduction to TBL :)
Right. I'll have to get that.

There is a file on aminet (not sure where, util is a good guess) called Chunker.
This will split a file. There is an MSDOS version and Amiga version. Use join
on the Amiga to join them again.

: What the hell do I do to RUN the damn thing?!
Easy. =) I boot with no startup-sequence (it doesn't have enough memory with
me, otherwise), assign cncd: to wherever, cd to that dir, and run
closer_fix.exe
Double-Click on the icon, if its from "i41s20.ira.uka.de". Else start it
with "closer.exe" (maybe you have to boot without startup-sequence...
Assign a path to it aswell ("cncd:" or "closer:" dont know that ...)
:) Not putting the icons in is traditional.
And for those of you who can't d/load 2M files, here's the source:
void main()
{
printf("getting closer...\n");
}
:) What am I doing wrong here? Snoopdos doesn't register it even
trying to load any further files or anything, that's just -it-.
Er. What actually -is- CNCD, anyway? BTW?
I guess you should spend some money on some FAST mem (perhaps plugged in a
Blizzard Board). I don't think Closer will run on a 2Mb 1200 (or whatever
your specs are).
Though I must say, the source you gave away here (expect some real flames
from CNCD about copyright issues :) is quite interesting. I guess I'll
make a demo myself soon, with a similar message, and puzzle all the
Amigans about how to run it correctly :)

Apologies for excessive quoting...
I have *16* megs of 32 bit 60 ns fast ram and that source code is still

The executable is packed with aging Titanics packer. You might want to try to
unpack it (with xfd maybe). That packer mightn't work with all configurations
or something. Oh, and did you remember the CNCD: assign and are you sure you
have all the files?

Er, well, did you assign CNCD: to the dir where you unpacked the demo? If
so there's nothing more I can think of...

The new demo "gomjabbar" does a similar thing - iit does actually play music,
