Come on CM fans, lets have some discussion!!! :)
JON
ISTR some a while back, but I'm not certain.

Now revised, 29th February is what I've seen (14th crossed out on the
poster, 29th written in).

I just want to kow how they squeezed 20Mb worth of PC games save files onto 1
DD floppy. I don`t care - since I have a HD - but I have a bad feeling that CM2
will be a badly cocked up conversion - and that will be truly sad.
I was also told several months back that if they couldn`t fit the game into 2Mb
on the Amiga it wouldn`t be worth doing. Obviously, they could do it, and
therefore it needs 2Mb AFAIK, but Domark haven`t confirmed anything.
One bit of good news is that the PC floppy version needs just 4Mb, which is
what te original CM93 needed on the PC AFAIK. The 8Mb that the CD version
required was for loading the various drivers in and for the use of the extra
pictures and commentary sound.
The PC floppy version strips out Clive Tyldsleys commentary and loses the
stadium pictures but is otherwise OK.
The Amiga version should have started by losing *all* sounds - it`ll have a
hi-res display, so 640x256 is probably the order of the day, since the PC
version was 640x480.
Basically, if the programmers are good, they should be able to fit CM2 onto a
2Mb Amiga and not lose any of the PC floppy`s features. I`m worried about how
they would implement the 20Mb save file.
CM2 is the only game on the Amiga that I`m contemplating buying in recent
times. And the review had better be good...

That makes me feel so much better, NOT :(
Come on T17, Alex, etc, what does pulling back an announced release date REALLY
mean for CM2?
They found a big bug?
They are going to lead us on for the next 6 months?
They don`t want to coincide with the next Blur/Oasis battle? ;)
What could it mean?
With the PC disk version doing OK in 4Mb, I would say that it looks OK, AS LONG
as they use hard drive install. Floppy users are up the creek.
Why don`t they just release a FULL uncut version for 45 quid? I`d BUY THE THING
ANYWAY!

Ahem; TFX, Frontier: First Encounters, need I go on?

If you have the unpatched PC CDROM edition, then I suggest you start adopting
Graham Taylor tactics, long ball 4-3-3 - It`s a bug in the game that gives such
tactics an advantange over the others. Ironic with Wolves, don`t you think,
that you are mirroring their league position of late ;)
Actually, the PC version is full of bugs, if you were doing well enough to be
headhunted by other clubs there is a bug that lets them sign you without your
say. Obviously, you haven`t been doing well enough to get noticed by that bug
;) ;)
Hey Alex. Let me give you a few tips on what to program for instant Amiga
success (besides the cheesy Doom clones etc)
Footy management games (i.e. a real sucessor to CM93)
A 3D space game not dissimilar to Frontier: First Encounters
A 3D flight sim game not dissimilar to TFX, EF2000.
How about it Alex?

That they still haven`t fitted it into 2 megs

Probably still have a big problem rather than a big bug, or maybe lotsa
small bugs.

Possible, but I doubt it will go past end of March

Thats probably the one

They are too busy playing the game. And my Wolves team is doing shite in
it (down to 18th now. sod.)
PC version before anyone asks. I wanted the speech and got fed up
waiting for the Amiga one which I suspect is going to be cut down :(

If it isn't at least 10 times as good as the PC-version, i won't buy it...

While generally a valid reason to spurn many programmers,
this hardly seems a fair point in the field of flight sims..
How, exactly, is one supposed to utilise the custom chips
of the Amiga to supplement the speed of a flight sim?
Display the HUD and indicator lights as Blitter objects?
I can't speak for CM2, but the original CM ran faster on my 4000/030 than
on the pentium P.C.s at work.
BArry.
What about reserving a single plane for the HUD? That cuts down heaps of
the processing (ie: masking, backing up and restoring background graphics),
so it'd be more efficient than the peecee version - and it'd even let you
make the hud translucent for free if you wanted to. And turn it on or off
with a single move instruction!
Wham! Planar strikes again! Told you gfx card guys it has it's
good points.. :)
