I'm looking for a PC program similar to Star Commander for converting
back C64 roms to its original form but for Amiga 500. A program that
can:

-format an Amiga disk in PC floppy drive
-perform a disk copy from the rom and create an Amiga disk in PC floppy
drive

Basically everything what Star commander does for C64 but an Amiga 500
program. :)

I'd very much appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

It occurred to me that ne...@lycosmail.com wrote in comp.sys.cbm:

You know, there ARE some games released on ROM, <sarcasm>But I assume you
mean a diskimage</sarcasm>

Bzzzzzt. Frup. Forget about it. Won't work.

Unless you're willing enough to buy one of those Catweazel(sp?) controllers,
that is.

Now, why! I've NEVER _ever_ *EVER* (Might look funny using tin ;) heard
about Amiga games released on ROM. I guess I'm never old enough to learn.

Forget it, due to the same reasons: A PC diskdrive can't write Amiga
diskettes.

StarCommander does NOT do this at all; it uses an orignal 1541 to do
the read/writing part. PC diskdrives are quite stubborn in some respects.

But why the hassle? An Amiga can perfectly read MS-DOS diskettes, if you
ask it nicely to do so.

There are more appropriate groups for things like this
(Like comp.sys.amiga.*)

(PS: Just out of curiousity: Was Fort Apocalypse ever released for Amiga?)

We call them disk images!

Is this related to your question about the C64? Don't think so.

There is a collection of Amiga tools on www.fairlight.to, in the
tools/Amiga section.

You can't, simple as that. PC floppy controllers are pretty crap and can't
be programmed to read/write Amiga disks at all. The only option is a
catweazel controller and they are very pricey.

Don't bother looking for any util to do it for you, they simply do not
exist.

Ofcourse, you could simply use an Amiga to read/write PC floppy disks and
transfer stuff that way, and a serial link works very well also.
