Yes the game you have all been waiting for is out. And it's better
than the demo was too.

It is also not out on the PC yet... Ahh well... :-)

For those who don't know, The Settlers is a god type game, a bit like
Simcity or Populous. Not only is it an immensely playable game, it
has really nice (not AGA) graphics and brilliant music and SFX. It is
hard disk installable, and takes full advantage of faster/bigger
machines. It works on all Amigas from 1 Meg A500 through to my 6 Meg
A4000/030 flawlessly, with more memory enabling bigger games. On a 6 Meg
machine, the biggest map is available, a massive 1600 screens with up to
64000 settlers. Overall rating: 95%. So go and buy it!

(I am a very satisfied customer, as you can tell!)

I will try to post a review tonight...

Paul.

Err, then what was the box with 'The Settlers' written on it that I saw in
the PC games section of Boots this lunchtime? It is probably more expensive
than the Amiga version (you pay for quality 8-)), but it is out.

Well the shop I bought it in on Wednesday didn't have it for the PC, and
the owner of the shop (who owns a PC) was waiting for it to come out...
Oh well. Still a brilliant game!

See if I get time for that review...

Now what I am wondering if it will run on an A3000? The demo worked fine
on all my machines but my main one which is a 3000. If you could let me know
if it works on 3000's that would be great. Thanks.

It runs on a friend's A2000 with 2630, so there shouldn't be a problem.
And the demo runs on my a4k/040 as well :-)

For some reason it (the demo) works on every machine except an A3000. I
don't know why. It was the same thing with castles from Interplay works
on all machines except 3000's anyone have any suggestions?

It works fine on my A3000, what I did was add degrader to the startup-sequence
on the disk, and selected 50hz, 50hzsystem and it worked fine, in fact I have
played the game many times (the demo) and the only time it didn't work was
when it was not in PAL. You might want to try turning off the caches, I didn't
but you never know it might help.

It worked after I run the AmigaToPAL by Nico Francois. I might be the best
game ever, btw. At least my brother has been playing it more than any
other game, including the Frontier.

Harri Pesonen ha...@elfuerte.fipnet.fi Spellbound with Amiga CD32

I run CD32 at 1280x512 in 256000 colors, if it happens to use that mode!

It is worth every 'pfennig'. !!!

Well I bought it and it works fine. So the demo must have been doing
something different than the game, and I agree it is one of the best
games this year, well last year, well both years??? :^)
