First, some general hints:
-If you feel paniced, or just need to catch your breath, you can catch the
ball on the flippers, and hold it there. Unlike some real pinball games, PD's
flippers remain up as long as you hold them there.
-If the ball is coming towards the middle of the board, at mostly a vertical
approach, DO ->NOT<- FLIP THE FLIPPERS. The center peg will most likely stop
it, and the ball will bounce to a new, happier location. If it seems to be
coming in skewed, then go ahead and flip. This will take a will to get used to.
-Know where the high scoring lanes are in each game. I will review these below
-Keep the ball on the rails in SW, BB, and NM. This gives to time to prepare.
-If the ball is moving slowly enough onto the flippers, try to shoot for a
high scoring lane. You can usually do this after it comes of the rails and
such.
-Always go for the Hold Bonus and Bonus Multipliers.
STEEL WHEEL
-Its really easy to get the bonus multiplier up to full (x7)
-Try to upgrade the train (center ramp) to 2mill. Lots of easy points.
-getting the Ticket price to 1mill is a little tough but can be done.
-Practice getting in the lowest, rightmost slot. This has some big bonuses.
-Also go for the upper, lefthand trap. HB is there, as well as the jackpot.
BEATBOX
-The leftmost two slots and the rightmost two slots are really tough, practice
on hitting these. The right ones, when lit twice in the same ball, will lite
a couple bonus arrows in the left hand one.
-Getting a bonus mult. greater than 2 is excellent. Again, the ramp to get
to the slots is really tough.
-GO FOR THE CHARTS. (USA and Europe). You get big bonuses from here.
-One of the lower target sets will allow you to double your bonus when you
shoot into the leftmost slot. Hit these alot!
NIGHTMARE
-Obviously, spell out GRAVEYARD. Doubles your score!
-Another score doubler is in the leftmost trap (the spinner when lit). One
of the possible goodie will add the highest (current-game) player's score to
yours. If you are by yourself, you just double your score! The return lane
liter is also in this trap. This gives you a premature Midnight, and will
lit the upper trap for xtra ball. In other words, ALWAYS TRY TO GET TO THE
SPINNER!!!!
-with pratice you can continually go up the left and right ramp alternatingly.
After the first one, each is worth 1mill! The points will rack up fast. Also,
if you happen to hit midnight, dont worry, the ramps are now worth 5mill!!!!.
-Speaking of midnight, try for the ever-decreasing bonus for the first few
seconds. Once its below 10 mill, forget it. Go for the ramps or traps. Each
is easily worth 5mill.
-After hitting the top (not very top) trap 3 times, you initiate a ball lock.
The other two traps become ball locks, and if you hit the ball into them, you
will get a new ball to shoot (but you dont lose one). If you hit it into the
first trap again, you will get the jackpot, and if one ball is locked, you get
twice the jackpot, and if two, three times! Also, if you can hit that same trap
without hitting any other scoring devices, you will get a SUPER bonus, which
is very high (I think about 20mill).
-Go for a 10x bonus mult (easy), and try to hold bonuses (difficult).
-It is extremely hard to light up the bonuses for the left hand lane. I
have yet to hit that up to an extra ball.
(unfortunately, I dislike Ignition, so I really cant help there)
