: It has all the features and looks identical but is DOG SLOW.
I think the calculating speed is about the same as equivalent MAC or PC.
However, the screen update speed is slow because of the deficiency of AGA.
Thanks

Yes, Sim City 2000 seems to have the same features as the PC version......
and the same code (as slow as PC Task ;) )...
Well, if u like this kind of game, buy it (I did, A4030), and don't forget to
ask an accelerator board for christmas .....In fact, u should already
have one because SC2K need 4 Mbyte of RAM...................
Frederic
AFAIK it has all the features of the PC version...
But!!!
It runs like a dog, the speed is unbelieveably SLOWWWWWWWWW!!!!
It isn't particually fast on an 060....
Crap programming, shove everything through the processor and not bother
with the custom chips... (much)

I tried SC2 on an A4000/040 & 486/33, and the Amigaversion was somewhat faster
(not much, but you could notice it while scrolling). But since the pc was
equipped with that crappy cirrus logic gfx, you might be right.

According to the SC2K PPP reference book, you can load both Amiga, MAC, and PC
WINDOW version under the same city, resolution, colors etc. and click the speed
from the menu to CHEETAH. Then, check the time for 12 months and you'll know
which one is faster.
I had problems with loading this game & phoned Maxis. They told me the game
picks up the drivers for the monitor drawer

What's your problem?
It turned out that is was an old version of the game that was not bugfixed.
Maxis happily replaced it for a bugfixed version FOC.

But is it possible to run SC2000 on a GFX card screen? (like the picasso or
piccolo) It would speed things up a lot.

Yes, but only the Mac version through Shapeshifter. Maxis will
send you the Mac version if you own the Amiga version. :)

Amiga version is compatible with Retina graphics card. I think it depends
on the compatibility of graphics card's AGA emulation.

it doesnt seem to like CyberGfx on CyberVision screen

I read an account of one guy who got lucky this way. He called

All I had to do was send them the two Amiga disks and UKP 2.50 to cover p&p. In
fact I was very pleased with the way I was dealt with by Maxis.
I tried their Tech Support Phone line and reached an answer phone, left a
message, and they tried 5 times to get back in touch with me to tell me I could
exchange the disks over, leaving a message on my machine each time.
It took 2 days for me to get the Mac disks, runs like a dream.
Just phone first I think would be polite, but you will get them exchanged.
Cheers and have a boozy Christmas, Guy

Are you actually running this? If not, then it isn't. I purchased this
lousy game with the whole hopes of running it on a gfx board. Since
then I bought: 2MB of chip ram since that was the latest B.S. about
"why it don't work with a gfx board"
And a reply of "I saw a friend running it with a gfx board" doesn't count
either since there must be lots of A1200 converted to fit in an A2000 case.. ;)
I have failed repeatedly to get this game to work with the following
hardware:
A2000: 68000, 68030 & 68040. 1MB & 2MB of chip
PicassoII, RetinaZ2
OS2.04, OS2.1, OS3.1
A3000: 68030, 2MB chip
PicassoII, RetinaZ2
OS2.04, OS3.1
If you have some hidden secret, I would *LOVE* to hear it. I really
don't gave a rats a## about the game at this point- it's just the
determination of hearing so many people say "it can be done" and when
it comes right down to it, these same people email "well.. I saw a friend
who has it working.. blah blah.." If it can be done- I'm 100% snafu!
What's the miraculous mystery? Some one let me!
hehehe ;)
Cheers!

The mystery is, when I read my cover box, that you need at least 4mbyte to
run........so (like PC requirement) I guess that 6 mbytes aren't to much..
And... SC2K isn't Aga only (I'll check this evening) ?
Nice to see you,
Frederic

Try commenting (i.e. putting parenthesis around) the "CHUNKY" tool-type
of your Devs:Monitors/Picasso monitor driver. This will fix the messed
up graphics, but not the almost instantaneos GURUS when it tries to
use AGA hardware calls.. ;)
Of course, be sure to change back your monitor driver to CHUNKY, or else
your machine will be sloooow...
