I've just got hold of a A1200 and was wondering if anyone could tell me the
best games for the A1200.

My fave AGA games, except the ones I have forgotten:

Guardian
Gloom
Banshee
Theme Park
Alien Breed 3D
UFO
Roadkill
Speedball 2 CD32 version
Deluxe Galaga

All top fun.

Its down to what kind of genres you like I guess, John.

Are we talking a plain 1200 - or does it have any frills like extra
ram/accelerator and hard drive?

All the best,

I need your memories for the Amiga Games Database: A collection of Amiga

There is no such thing as "the best game" or even "the best games". It's purely
a matter of preference and taste, just like Angus said.

But if you ask me, you can't go wrong with something simple like Sensible Golf
:)

Just a standard A1200 with probably an ram upgrade around 4-8mb. I'm not
looking to spend more than £20 for a ram upgrade for it :)

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Superstardust or Skidmarks, not even a
mention of Alienbreed :(

If you like 3D games, and generally want the Amiga to be a lot quicker,
you might find an 030 accelerator for not much more than that. You'll be
able to cheaply put some ram on that if it isn't already included, where
as if you go for just the ram expansion and then decide to upgrade, the
ram expansion card becomes redundant. If that makes sense.

...also thanks to the WHDLoad and JST patchers, most would agree that the
Amiga gaming experience is hugely improved with the inclusion of even a
small 2.5 HD which will connect to the 1200 internally.

Then you would have a seriously capable classic Amiga for very little
expense. (Check Amibench, Ebay, and boot sales).

Okay, games........ hmmm..... :)

I sort of like cross-genre stuff a bit so Steel Empire (Cyber Empires in
the US) (Empires of Cybernetic Killserfing in L.A.) ;) will always be
close to my heart.

I'm a big fan of the mission based Space combat game Star Crusader....

and let's not forget the excellent Virus from David Braben, or just
possibly, the Zeewolf games.

PowerMonger should also be mentioned, and Paradroid '90 (great demo
available on Aminet) and who could forget Super HangOn?! :)

Well, that's what came to mind today, and actually only one of them
requires AGA, so I'll add UFO: Enemy Unknown AGA as well.

It doesnt use the AGA chipset, it just uses the faster processor to
render more data.

So it's just as good on an A1200/030@25 as it is on an A3000/030@25. I
dont think it even uses the available FPU, but that is pure
speculation.

Agreed AFAIK it requires an 020+ for the floor textures and an 030+ and/ or FPU
for floor and ceiling textures.
