Title says it all but with added stipulations:
I am only considering either Spectrum or PicassoII graphics board, Retina
ZIII is expensive. Any recommendation on which of the two graphics board is
more suitable for the Emplant would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Very simple; the Picasso is a tad faster and it's cheaper.
After carefull examination I choose the Piccolo for my Amiga
as I think it gives the best performance for the bucks and
it works great.

I myself use the EGS Spectrum gfx board with my Emplant. I have experienced no
problems, and the video emulation is quite speedy in 256 colour mode. In fact
I play Sim City 2000, civilization, and f-18 regularly. Though f-18 is slow
(mostly due to my slow CPU not the gfx board!).

Workbench emulation on the EGS SPectrum has improved tremendously wince it was
first released. The latest version of the software comes with a nice screen
promoter, and the software is bug free, and works with practically everything
that works on the workbench!

I find the graphics of this board to be fast on the Workbench as well as the
mac emulation. Though you will need to use PatchDT to get a SUPER SPEED
workbenchin 256 colours!!!

Larry, if you are on a budget, and have a Zorro III machine, I would go
for an EGS Spectrum. It is TWICE as FAST as a Picasso II! I have
confirmed that the Zorro II bus is a limiting factor for the MAC
graphics. I tested my EGS Spectrum in Zorro II mode vs Zorro III mode.
Zorro III benchmarks were TWICE AS FAST. I even know a Picasso II owner
who switched his card to a Spectrum in Zorro III mode and realized the
speed up.

However if you have a Zorro II amiga, you should consider the Picasso II.
But the EGS Spectrum is fairly cheap now. Devine has them for $345. I don't
know what the Picasso II goes for these days, but back when I bought my
EGS Spectrum, it was more.
