Manny: You're not too big. You just have a self-image problem.
Glottis: A what?
Manny: Repeat after me:
I am not fat...I am thin...Women find me attractive...
Glottis: Hey, I never said I was too fat for the ladies, just the
cars.
The ladies like me just fine (heh, heh, heh).

Spaceballs 'State of Art'
Mad Elks "Technolgical Death'

Problem is they have some hardcore Copper routines that the emulator has
a problem with.

Any Amiga questions, just ask!

Games are harder, back when the Amiga was in its prime so were the games,
I remember when I was younger staying up all night with 'Ports of Call',
and 'WINGS', they were nothing special but just alot of fun. The demos
are what show off the Amiga, if you want some NICE effects like 'Jello
Vectors' look at any by 'The Silents' or 'Melon Design' I was a Demo
junkie, I coded a couple, and still to this day the guy I look up to is
'Corsair' A masterpiece if you want to see the copper at its best is
'Angels - Coppermaster' It will push the emulator to the max, its best
seen on a true Amiga. Use WB 1.3 and NO accelerator.
If you cannot find it on the net I can pass it along.

also do the best/coolest demo will not run on emulator since they all are
emulate A500 /1000 which was the oldest in Amiga line. or do all the Amiga
almost had the same graphic /sound capacity .the only different is later
model had AGA chip (to whatever it is)

The demos use alot of the copper, this is where the power of the machine
comes in and the emulator has a very hard time emulatimg these copper
routines. All the Amiga's can show the graphics the same, all the AGA
did was add 256 colours, myself I found it pointless as a graphics card
is a much smarter idea.

I can email you some of the demos if you wish.

AGA add 256 color ? do Amiga already can do 256 color before AGA at least from what
i see at UAE it is sure do 256 color.

can you upload it some ftp or web space so i can d/l them later ? i am only on a
56K modem not a good idea to email large file.

thx

The original Amiga could show 32 colours, (5 bitplanes) or 4096 in HAM
mode. So the workbench never looked very colourfull. The AGA added 256
colours (8 bitplanes) think of it as the VGA on the PC.
Even though it was only 32 colours you have to remember the PC was still
EGA and CGA much less colours.
The copper puts alot of preasure on the emulator, as its not chips but
software emulation, it will never be as fast. But when coded correctly
you can create some amazing effects and colours, I did a couple of demos
just using the copper.

Where can I FTP the demos to for you?

Check the FAQ for a command reference and other pointers.

Although this isn't really on-topic in this newsgroup, I'd advise you to
check out the demo section in Back 2 the Roots (at
http://back2roots.emuunlim.com/ ).
They've rated all the demos, but be warned: You'll need a pretty hefty setup
to run some of the demos there.

Some demos everyone should see: Pulse and Relic by NerveAxis, Ride on our
enemies by Skarla, Smokebomb by Ozone, Concrete by Ephidrena and Arte by
Sanity =)
But I don't think u get many fps's with emulator...except the arte could
run fine ;)
