Now my old A-2000 is just continuing to get older, though I still like
to tinker with it when I ever get the chance, which hasn't been for a
while now.

It's been without a keyboard and monitor for quite some time, as all my
old Amiga keyboards have since malfunctioned. I will note that I rather
liked my old A-2000 keyboard that I used for many years. It's since
become my second favorite keyboard (when it was working I mean), my most
favorite being an IBM c. 1996 'clicky' keyboard which I am using at this
very moment. :)

Anyways, I've happened upon two new-old-stock still in their boxes Sega
Dreamcast keyboard and mouse, for pretty cheap. I was wondering if
there was any way at all to get these two devices to work on an old
Amiga. Actually I was thinking at first about how to get them to work
on a PC, and my first thought was a little box that hooked up via USB
and translated the signals. I know you can get a USB interface for
Amigas so it might be possible to get that to work.

I'll entertain any ideas. Thanks! =)

The requirements of USB devices would make that the "hard way" to do it, I'd
ditch that idea if I were you. Even the "easy way" would require a
microcontroller to convert the dc keyboards' serial protocol to Amiga
keyboard signals.

Might make an interesting little project if you're into that sort of thing.
Have a look at http://mc.pp.se/dc/maplebus.html for info on the dc
controller port protocol, or better yet hope that someone else has already
designed something.

So basically I'd have to make an interface for this maplebus. Sounds
like I could make use of the mouse and game controller as well. Makes
me wonder what you could do with the VMU, heh.

I did find a device out there that does have a Dreamcast controller
port, as well as a PS2 controller port and Saturn port. It connects via
USB. I do not know if it would work with the keyboard though.
