You can try the following:
cc...@sun.cse.bris.ac.uk (aka Jim Young)

but you may also find (eg. in his MODs) a mail-alias:
jim....@bristol.ac.uk

U4ia has changed the groups sometimes. The last time he called himself
U4ia of MDMA (btw what does it mean;
surely not 'multiple direct memory access' :-)

And please don't forget that U4ia has stopped publishing MODs several
months ago. Nevertheless you can ask the same question ( 1) ) in
comp.sys.amiga.audio,
which U4ia still reads frequently.

In hope to help
Harald

The best way to contact U4ia is on IRC (channel #amiga).

I've allways thought they took the name from a group of drugs myself.
MDMA= MethylDidfbjbvev..........can't remember it really.
It's a type of drugs such as LSD & Ecstacy.
The guys seems to be pretty much into that kind of things anyway.
Just look at their diskmag .....shit I forgot the name....anyway --> it
contains e.g. an article on how to use XTC.
Besides:the guy is calling himself U4ia = Euphoria.

If you really need to get in touch with him ---> look at #amiga on irc.

MDMA is Ecstacy.

And U4IA is a semi-talented whiner who stomped off the playground because
no one would buy him a new Amiga. He's certainly not some .MOD God.

OK . You knew i would reply.
a few points here.

1: talent is in the ear of the listener.
2: stomped off the playground???? interesting analogie. I quit becasue of
2 reasons, a: my amiga is dead b: i can't be bothered to write music
for some asswipe to put on a cd and sell it.

and as for saying i left cos noone would buy me an amiga. Jeeee you have
a real problem matey. I couldn't give a damn if i have an amiga or not.
Go get a life and then come back and insult me.
But until you know me and the way i work i suggest you take your purial
imagination elsewhere.

As for MOD god. well i never said i was. never have and never will.

Sure, if you add in the right drum loop and way too much bass :) (PS, please
dont, there's too many MODs like that already :-)

I would too...1993 is definitely one of the best MODs ever made, seeing how as
it's actually *composed* instead of just sampled and thrown together like
WhatIsLove, RIAD, etc, etc.

files I found that u4ia had created. 1993 is the best 4 channel mod I've ever
heard. I really like a good melody. If I wanted to hear some of the
techno-shit out from most people I'd throw two male mountain lions and a
female in heat in a cement mixer and tape that racket. Heh, there's some out

U4ia, why dont you get information abotu the Gnu Public Liscence
(GPL)? Send email to r...@gnu.ai.mit.edu, and ask about it..

I think you can distribute your software with a "CopyLeft", that
basicly says it can be redistributed, but not restricted in any way.

Hmm. I dont know if it's possible to tell people they cant make a profit
from it, though I have seen this too, elsewhere.

Basicly you shoudl distribute your MODs with a text file with the
distribution conditions in it. If you just put the MODs around, people
will grab them and shove them on a disk. If you put a note inside asking
peopel NOT to distribute the MOD without the acompanying simmilarly-named
text file, they will look pretty stupid if they place it on a CD without
the file, and you can at least make them look bad.

I think it's not a good idea for you just to leave. The music world
still needs good MOD writers who are willing to produce music because
they enjoy it.

abbreviation of the chemical name for Ecstacy. I told him he was correct.

No, I know you, and how you work, and was here for your temper tantrum,
and heard about it from other MOD artists who know you. I've heard your work,
compared with other artist's work, and found it acceptable but still sorely
lacking.

Yes, this is my opinion, and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it.
Take your bruised ego and find a life of your own.

Ah - but that is all a matter of opinion. Best not to criticize until you
are able to make a mod that is as good as u4ia's. Until you are as well
known in the Amiga community as u4ia check your attitude at the door before
you come in here again. u4ia has made TONS of mods. Of the ones I have I
enjoy them all. They were well put together.

Uh, how do you know him, know how he works, etc? Have you met u4ia personally?
Been his roommate for the past year? Unless thats been the case get off your
high horse. You probably have not even talked to the man on IRC let alone
knowing him and his work. Ok, so maybe you do find his music lacking - I and
and many others dont. Quit your bitching - theres no reason for it. If you
dont like his mods or what he has to say then 1) dont listen to them and
2) dont read his posts. Its so easy.

>Yes, this is my opinion, and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it.
>Take your bruised ego and find a life of your own.
>

True, theres not anything he can do about your opinion and more than likely
he doesnt give a rats ass about it. The only reason I'm replying to your post
is because comments like yours arent really necessary. I dont think that hes
a whiner at all. I for one would be really pissed if someone were making a
profit off of something I wrote without having my permission to sell it. Many
mods I see these days have disclaimers now that says if the mod is going to go
onto some type of distribution disk that is being sold for profit the publisher
must contact the mod author for permission. Are these people also whiners as
you put it? Actually, they all want their hard work to continue being free for
everyone - not to profit someone else. Had u4ia's mods not been put on that
CD maybe he would still be involved in the Amiga community. Actually the man
was smart - he got some real equipment to make music and unfortunately this
time he wont be so generous as to give it away for nothing.

Well this is the point which should end this thread. It's time for
all you U4ia wanna-be's to put up or shut up. You can only talk
smack for so long before you gotta prove your stuff. But hey
it's easy to criticize someone who's established, someone
who has made a name for himself. I do not know Jim Young...
he *may* whine, he *may* throw temper tantrums; I don't know
and I don't care. What the people on these groups care
about is his music. If you really wanna gain some respect
instead of making an idiot of yourself on a worldwide
forum, post your music. Quit crying about "U4ia this"
and "U4ia that". You honestly expect us to believe you
would sit there while someone made decent money off of your
efforts? Yea, I bet. But hey you can end this right now
by posting your stuff, and we'll just see where it stacks up.
