Alternatively, is MusicX itself available in ADF or DMS format anywhere, so
I could run the app itself in WinUAE?

I have the original here, but there was a version that was made available
for OS 2.0.
I had tried the convertor before, but I can't remember how well it worked.
I'm currently trying to obtain the MIDI interfaces for my A500 again.
I got a hold of Synthia (softsynth) for the Amiga. Want to play...
One of you mentioned that it works fine in WinUAE. Haven't tried it myself,
but I know the original version crashed a lot on my A500 because there was a
MIDI timing issue where they didn't lock down only one of the two system
clocks, and occasionally both would respond at the same time.
Other than that I loved using MIDI-X. I used the sampling section quite a
bit for drums, SFX, etc.

The MX2Midi converters works reasonably fine, although the most
recent version does a much better job. At least with the midi
options of SMF. Music-X specific commands are mostly ignored.
I have used some "SoftSynth" programs years ago, but you need
a real powerful Amiga and good samples to get a decent sound.
A better idea is to get hold of a secondhand Yamaha DB50XG
wavetable daughterboard. On the internet are quite a few
schematics to realize an apropriate (serial-) interface, that's
what I did. This does not need a powerful system either.
Best regards,
