A brief summary of info I have right on hand about Science/School software.
Note: I am not a FAQ maintainer or anything. I make no claims about the
correctness of this info.

Covered:
X-windows, AmigaTeX, PasTeX, GNU emacs, fifo.library, csh, GNU plot, UNIX diff,
ispell, US Amiga FTP, US Fish FTP

X-windows is available from GfxBase

GfxBase, Inc.

AmigaTeX is available from Radical Eye
US $200. About 6 program disks + 6 font disks. 6 or 12 MB hard disk space.
1 or 2 MB memory I would say.

There is also a PD TeX called PasTeX

The author of GNU emacs and various UNIX command ports (ls, mv, grep, ...)
is David Gay. You'll need a couple MB of hard disk and RAM.

I've lost the FTP site address. Look for unix/fileutils, unix/textutils,
unix/gnuemacs-18.58.

Along with GNU emacs you'll probably want the fifo.library from Fish 588.
Also you may want to replace the UNIX sh with csh from Fish 624. I needed
to do this to use a TeX-shell in GNUemacs TeX-mode.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GNU plot 3.2 is on Fish disk 701
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UNIX diff is available from

ftp.uu.net
/systems/amiga/dillon

filename: diff115.lzh
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ispell 3.11 ljr is available from wuarchive,

/usenet/comp.binaries.amiga/volume91/applications/ispell

It's a major pain to assemble together. Once assembled it is spiffy though.
The hash file is about 500k, HD highly recommended.
Maybe someone should upload the assembled version?

Major US Amiga site: wuarchive.wustl.edu [128.252.135.4]
Major US Fish site: ux1.cso.uiuc.edu [128.174.5.59]
