I think the Medusa bit was just a joke after having seen
the jpeg of the "new machine", the rest of the specs, seemed
speculative rather than factual, and nothing new really, just
a compilation of bits and peices from various magazines, and other
"official" sources.

I was just going over my copy of December 1993 issue of Acorn User,
here is a quote from an article they printed ...

"ARM7, the Risc processor technology which will be at the heart of
Acorn's new flagship computers next year, has been officially launched
by ARM Ltd."

"ARM Ltd quotes a performance of 55369 Dhrystones (version 1.1) and
52 Dhrystone 1.1mips (million instructions per second) for the ARM700
at 33MHz."

.... Sounds good to me.

Adam.

According to the docs in the latest !ARMovie, it is RISC OS 3.20
This number is cluttered all over the text, saying sth like
"For pre-RISC OS 3.20 machines use...
"From RISC OS 3.20 on use ...

Does nobody recognise a mock-up when they see one? I'll bet that whoever
took a hacksaw to that keyboard had a great time!

Ever heard of code names ? 300 + RAM size ??? Could be less....

I don't know if anyone else noticed but the machine running the nice
24bit demos had !ARMovie in it's apps 'drive'. Does this mean that it
was on rom?

Not necessarily. You can register files or applications with ResourceFS by
putting them in a module with the appropriate header code, so that they appear
in the Apps directory. Acorn User had a BASIC prgram to do this a while back,
and I think there's one on HENSA somewhere.
