I have a BT account, and a domain which has several different 'boxes'.
I'm using Pluto via Netfetch. I
t's a Kinetic computer OS 4.03 (probably irrelevant, but someone's
bound to ask!)
I've been using this email account for months without problems, but
suddenly today a couple of emails I've tried to _send_ have failed,
Hermes stating "Completed with errors" and the log stating
"Error: From address not verified - see http://btyahoo.com/verify "
and then it disconnects.
I received an error email from BT saying that alternate addresses (do
they mean alternative??) are to be blocked to prevent 'spoofing'. But
having talked to someone in India, he thought I'd been notified in
error, since I've not changed anything in my normal setup.
Another BT person thought the system was simply overloaded since it's
Sat. afternoon. Another one couldn't get her head round the concept
that it wasn't a Windows machine, and didn't know you could
communicate without using email.
Has anyone else faced this problem and succeeded? Do I need to go to
btyahoo and try to verify every separate alias of my domain? It's this
that scares me, in case I end up by scrambling what was a perfectly
workable system.

Hello, I had an identical problem a few days ago - complete with Indian
call centre!! You need to log into your main BT email account with your
main password and add the offending email address to the account, as it
has for some unknown reason become unverified.
BT will then send a verification code to your main addy for you to enter
and verify the secondary address.
It doesn't help that BT's instructions on the error email they sent me
were incorrect as the site was being constructed.
Will check exactly how I did it, should you need more help.

I think one of the call centre people did something: the blockage has
suddenly been unstopped! One of them did say the error notification
had been sent in error. Either that, or BT's Bad Hair Day has received
a perm.
