Hi!
I have terrible trouble with my Cumana SCSI-II.
This weekend I have reprogrammed the eeprom. I wanted to put in the new
filecore module. To do this I don't put in the CDFS. So I got enough
space in the eeprom to put in the filecore module. So long. The
programming was allright. No errors appeared. But after I made a reset
the following error appeared:
Error: Instruction abort: abort on Intruction fetch <address>

The computer showed me the prompt but the keyboard does not work!
So I'm not able to reprogramm the eeprom!

I had the same problem when I tried to program it with my CDROM driver.
Luckily for me, *Desk. worked and I could reprogram the flash as it was.

Since you have effectively no keyboard you are going to have a
nightmare getting this thing working. I was going to suggest removing
the SCSI card to get the computer back on, but the you couldn't reprogram
it!! Unless you put the card in the machine whilst it is running, and I
strongly advise against that!!! I was also going to suggest *UnPlugging
all the modules but you can't get at the keyboard. You could try
turning on with Delete held down, this has proved an amazing miracle cure
for some of my problems, but I don't hold much hope for yours.

I'm sorry to be so negative and have no solutions, but I'm sure there is
some cunning person out there who can help you. Otherwise it looks like
you will be sending it back to Cumana to be deprogrammed. It is definitely
a poor design if you have to do that. Surely there must be a jumper or
something which you can change to stop the card frombooting the flash.

James.

PS I now consider myself lucky to have cured my problem so easily.

There is, removing jumpers J7 & J8 disables IC3 & IC4 (the FLASH Roms).

: You could remove the scsi card to get the keyboard working again, and set up a
: boot sequence which will reprogram the eeprom. Then you put the card back in
: and turn the computer on. Hopefully it will boot up and reprogram the eeprom.
: This might work but I am not sure.

: Roger

: Usual disclaimers.

It won't work because the computer 'Aborts on Data transfer' and then
that's it. No boot-up sequence. Nothing. So try the Jumper solution
as previously suggested.

James.
