I have a Model B connected to a 14 inch TV. The TV is tuned properly but
when the Beeb displays anything that is white, it streaks across the
screen, why is this and how can it be fixed?

Hmm, I've always put it down to old components in the beeb's video
circuitry, coupled with modern 'digital' TV tuners being not quite as
sensitive as the old manual tuners on TVs of the beeb's era...

No doubt someone will be along with a more informative answer, though :)
Certainly some beebs seem to be more susceptible than others.

cheers

funnily enough, I'd have thought the exact opposite. I suspected
overloading of the tuner with the output from the Model B.

Writing from vague memories of decades ago, I suspect the Model B output is
excessive and needs a bit of attentuation. I suspect modern TVs have more
sensitive amplifiers than in the good old days when you could set-up the
colour balance yourself.

If that's the case try an aerial attenuator plug it into the TV aerial
socket and the lead from the Beeb into that. Maplins do 2 a 6dB (BW59P)
and a 12 dB version (BW60Q) at £4.99 each see:

To see if the signal output is to strong for your tv,
slowly pull out the connector, the tv will pick up
a little bit when the plug is partly in, and that will show
you whether the fault is due to overloading the tv antenne
input.
If so, slit the cable and put in a 2 resistor divider,
like ~150 ohm and 10 ohm, to reduce signal strength.
