Just lately my Kyocera FS1750 has been churning out an extra page
after every print job with the following:

lpd: Job trailer
Date:

positioned about three-quarters of the way down. It does not appear to
happen on printing from 'foreign' operating systems...

Anybody any idea where it's emanating from and how to rid oneself of
it? I've tried all the menu operations on the printer (those that I
have found).

Another possibility is that a dipswitch has been moved but I have no
documentation nowadays. At least I can't find it...

Using Printers+ (1.91a), with PDF from Explan drivers (also using
standard PS PDF, just in case it was the Explan driver), on Riscos
4.39 using an SMC router with printer output.

Any other info on demand.

Thanks

So you're printing by a network connection to the router? "lpd" is the
Unix-land line-printer daemon (or something) I think, that is the program
that's actually sending your print file to the router and hence on to the
printer. I'd get guess there's an option in lpd (perhaps set in the router
or print-server's config) that allows you to say whether or not print jobs
should be preceded/followed by job headers/trailers.

In offices it's common to have prints topped & tailed by extra pages saying
who they were for, so that different people's prints can be segregated. It's
less useful anywhere where only one or two people send printout to a printer
and even then, do so rarely.

Have you changed the router or its firmware recently?

Have you tried reverting to a new loaded up version of the printer drivers?

Occasionally mine wobbles - I delete it from Printers 1.54 and re-instal - it then appears hunky dory.

I had a problem recently where my Kyocera was doing odd things with
the feed. It turned out that the sensors needed cleaning. These are
tucked away inside the interior where the trays and other gubbins go.
They are on the sides and slightly recessed. At least they are on my
3800.
