in the faq it references Feud, if this is refurs the SyraSoft game I am
one of the programming team on it. It is currently on hold (and has been
for some time), there are some sample graphics around, and game concept
and strategy documents, in extistance, and a rudimentry (if fast)
grahpics engine code.
I would like to move this project along, but at the moment I haven't got
the time (I now work for ARM after a bizzar turn of events).
I shall try to keep you all informed as to what is going on.

Face to Face our World War II flightsim did make it to market, and is
still available, but only mail order..
if you want any details please drop me an e-mail.

It may refer to it. The reference is all about an a game advertised in an
issue of Acorn User some years ago now. It appeared to be some sort of
strategy game posibly in the vain of War Craft.

Please do. The entries in the FAQ get grumpy if they don't get updated at
least once every two years.

Was that a Spitfire sim? I have a vague memory of that being advertised
along with Feud. I could be making it up as I go along though.

If you want to throw together some screen shots of what you've got so far I
would be happy to include a link in the FAQ.

yep that's us
Face to Face was a highly complex flight sim based around flightsim
toolkit.
I contained a whole array of aircraft, I think a sopwith camel??, a
hurricane, a spitfire, and countless german (computer) planes
It has highly detailed landscape, and it prefurs to run on a RiscPC but
It can run an arm3.
there are various weather options, and training missions.
I have contacted some of the other partners in the business, and I am
working out what needs to be done to make it available again.

there was a RPC only flightsim in production, but I dont think ther are
any missions or front end on that, it has contoured landscape, and v.
detailed maps............

feud ?????? medeveal (sorry spelling not my strong point) stratergy
game, with castles, etc that cam be butilt up with elements of sim city,
civilisation, and powermonger,
current state: we have most of the grfx, the graphics engine and a
terraformer (fractal landscape genorator) etc...
I will try to dig some bits up tonight we will have to see what turns up

It was always disappointing how the games from 4D seemed to dry up after
around 1993. I mean some of them were looking quite impressive for the time.
Several flight sims were released but we never saw (AFAIK) texture mapping
with the exception of SF3000 maybe from FedNet.

ATM we are waiting for F16 from RCI although Eurofighter Typhoon was
released to a mixed response.

I had noticed that 4D came up with some good Ideas, but they need just a touch
of chilli to pep them up.
stunt racer was great fun, but there was so much more scope that wasn't taken
up.

I have been in discusion with my brother about future flight sims. the problem
for us is that we have been streching the limits of flight sim toolkit for a
while and we now need to start hacking it to do what we want. we have accureate,
and enjoyable flight models. good ground detail, but no textures (i will look
into this), there are some v. nice & clever techniques that have been employed
to get around the limitations of FST, which look pritty good, things like
explosions, and weather.
If any one has an idea about how to modify the FST game engine, or even just to
pause it and pull useful data out (for maps etc.) I would be very greatful

cheers
Ben

A Syra Soft Website will be going up soon with info on fourth comming
releases, and a shareware download of face to face, watch this space for
when it's ready
The URL will be (until I get a better one)
I hope to get this sorted as soon as possible.

IIRC, I asked about this one a while back. Glad to hear that the project
isn't totally dead. I remember seeing the adverts in Acorn User and
really looked forward to it.
