So presumably this would be Repton 3 or Repton Infinity or anything
that can be loaded into an existing Repton game.
The levels alternatively might be some you have collected from PD
discs over the years or even found on the internet. If so, they would
still be welcome as would any URL link.
Thanks

Curious - Andrew who?
Is the 'we' element anything to do with John Hoare who made the same
request in 2005, to which I responded with about 20 levels, who never
made anything he received available to anyone else?

No I saw your message again in a search through CSAG. This will be
separate and possibly with the help of Stairway to Hell. Your levels
sound very interesting. It'd be a pleasure to put them up so please do
send them if you like.

At a tender age, I did once design a few for Repton Infinity - most of
them were very simplistic, though, and as this was on a BBC, they're
stored on five-and-a-quarter inch floppies.
Let me know if you want them anyway, though, and I'll try and find them!

Repton Infinity especially yes. There are a few on a PD disc somewhere
but for some reason have to be transferred to tape - so almost useless
for emulation.

Well I am having trouble getting them to you.....
I can't even get Repton working on here to make sure I am looking at
the right folder of files.
Email me with a postal address and I will send what I think are them,
on a disc.

Not sure if you got my email but Retrosoftware will contact you next
week if you're still interested in sending your levels!
thanks

Yes I emailed you which seems to have been lost. You should receive
another email fairly soon all being well.

You didn't. There's half a dozen other people who've sent in levels
that are now up on the site so there's no reason why I wouldn't be
interested in looking at your levels. As long as they are completable
they should be put up asap.

Someone - could you please check your spam filters as two people have
now emailed you and you say you haven't received anything.

Don't be daft - I have checked a couple of times, for both 'supposed'

Mind you, with 500 or so a day to check, I simply scan the list of
titles and senders. If nothing obviously genuine in the sender name
or title jumps out at me, they will get missed.
I have seen nothing titled Repton levels or sent from Andrew .....!
It was not titled paris hilton or increase your dick or similar, was it?

Either it's spam or its being rejected for some reason.

Yes, it's all up there now and there's another password site for the
original games that somebody else has done. It took quite a long time
to sort out those files you sent me!
Andrew
That "there" is: http://aw.drobe.co.uk/REPTON/
(found via Google)
Which reminds me... how do you load them? I downloaded the 'MFoot'
collection as an SSD and have been completely unable to play them. I
don't even know what the filename is, not to mention the fact that the
'G' directory (the one game files are kept in) appears to be completely
empty...

The disc image just has the game files with appropriate load
addresses. You have to copy them yourself to the Repton 3 disc. You
can see the filenames in the zip file as well.

What? Repton Infinity works by having one game disc, containing the
interpreter, and any number of data discs, containing the games. You
wait for the interpreter to load first, then load game files from the G
directory.
As someone who knows very little about BBCs, how do I copy files from
one directory to another? Come to think of it, which files should I
copy? (*. MFoot.$ lists JULIE, JULIE2, MACHO, MSCREEN, Passwor and
STEVEN - which one is the game?)

MFoot is a collection of Repton 3 files so you just put the disc in
the emulator (which will of course affect how and what you do things)
when Repton 3's main game menu page displays and then load the
appropriate level set. Otherwise you could *copy the files from the
disc image to a repton3 disc image depending on your emulator.

I am not by any means well versed in the history of Repton, but when you
say 'a collection of Repton 3 files', do you mean they require a copy of
the original Repton 3 game (as opposed to Repton Infinity, which came
later and is what I have) to run?
I could check stairwaytohell.com again and see if they also have that to
download freely, as they did Infinity, of course...
Yes, it looks like "Repton 3 - take 2" but uses a completely different
program.
