In the thread linked above, I asked for experience of running a PC
podule (specifically the last generation "Elvis" version") under RISC
OS 4. For some reason, Google Groups won't let me reply to that
thread.

With the Kinetic disabled, !PC (version 2.06e, which I think was the
last podule software) gets as far as booting DOS, but thereafter there
seems to be a graphics problem in that something as apparently simply
as a directory listing produces random colours (largely black where
white text should be!). If the podule ran OK in a RiscPC, this is not
(only) a VIDC20 vs VIDC1 issue, though I have not yet experimented
with "mode" commands in autoexec.bat or tried a clean DOS
installation.

Booting DOS 6.22 with no autoexec.bat or config.sys files, I get a
screen-worth of normal text (white-on-black). Commands that cause the
screen to scroll produce mostly black-on-black text, with the odd
green, brown or blue character. But if I "cls" then (say) "dir", the
first screen-worth is legible white-on-black. So it is a scrolling
display that mangles the colour scheme. I ought to try again after
configuring the RiscPC to start up in mode 31 or another old wimpmode,
but any thoughts in the meantime welcome.

It seems possible to boot Win95 (safe mode) and shut down (using Alt-
F4) without crashing the podule, although the display is wholly
corrupted (black background, "Safe mode" shows up at each corner but
the text is multi-coloured and broken up.

It may be down to a loose ribbon cable and/or 40-44pin adapters, but
trying to run the PC podule took out the IDEFS drives, so I'm giving
up for the time being!
