Keep on getting an error message 'drawing contains dead symbols including
LOOP' but nothing appears to be missing and I can't find any reference to
LOOP in the manual.

I've never had that error message. But have you tried purging unused

symbols from that drawing? (Misc => Purge => Dead symbols)
