Hi comrades in ARMs!

I am about to do a Self-Assessment tax return online at
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/online and wonder which RISC OS browser will
best do it.

I have done this before on RISC OS some years back, but have forgotten
which RISC OS browser(s) the website worked for. I think NetSurf and
Firefox (Peter Naulls' port) worked. Since then we have NetSurf with
added JavaScript, has anyone tried that?

Please don't answer along the lines of: Use Internet Exploiter, use
Safari or Opera, use a linux browser (except, possibly, Midori that I
have on my Raspberry-Pi) or what do you want to do a tax return for?

Cheers,
David Lane

Hi Dave,

I did my last return on the PC as netsurf didn't have Javascript then but
just out of interest I had a go at logging in with Dev #1092 with JavaScript
enabled. (Don't know if Javascript was ever actually needed).

Everything seemed to work perfectly. I've beeen signed up for a couple of
years so already had a user ID & password. I was able to view my account, &
download a PDF of my PAYE code from the year of my choice so all the links &
drop down menus seem to work OK. Everything seems clear, readable & laid out
correctly.

It's worth giving it a whirl. I'll use netsurf next time.

Regards,

I've always used NetSurf for this without problems. This year's return
was done using NetSurf v2.9, so can't comment if more recent versions
are ok.

Depends.

NetSurf is under continuous development so what didn't work last week may
well work now. By the time Jan 2014 comes and you have to file your
return, who can tell?
