O.k. An intermitant fault.
Probably a poor connection. But tracking it down isn't easy as quite a few
permutations.
If I understand you correctly, you have recently had the battery changed in
this RPC, correct?
If yes had the battery gone furry?
If yes there could be an intermitant fault on the PCB :-(
I believe you have a number of RiscPCs, could you swap this RiscPC for
another one performing a role that doesn't need sound?

Quite a few hardware permutations, but as it has worked with the
configuration you have pictures wouldn't help.
We can help more one to one but we would have to start charging for our
time!
