The critical requirement of clip art in education is that they should be
editable. If you don't make yours appropriate for the circumstance and the
audience then you can't expect the kids to do the same - and you don't give
the kids any marks for using other people's clip art. Do you?
Thanks to all for the responses. I will contact APDL and see what they
recommend.
I found the Task Force clip art CD of very good quality. Mind you, there
is a lot of American stuff on it and you have to convert all the files.

The problem with bit-mapped clip art is that you can't easily modify it -
or do you get the kids to produce reasonable modifications using such clip
art?

I thought that what John meant by the above was that
the bitmap formats are for previewing purposes. If
someone wishes to use the preview images, rather
than purchase the clip art proper, then the
limitation of bitmap images is the price they pay.

Oh and there's also a crappy Windows95/98 version for 6.50ukp there, too.

There was a case a few years ago (IIRC) in which an A-level student
submitted a course-work essay on Mahatma Gandhi illustrated with pictures of
Karl Marx because, as he said, there were no pictures of Gandhi on his
clip-art disc. But he had removed the beard....
