We are pleased to announce that new versions of both TouchType and
Complete Animator will be available at the Wakefield show this
weekend.
TouchType for RISC OS v2
------------------------
This represents a major update to TouchType, which is often regarded
as
the best typing tutor available on any platform (the Windows version,
which is almost identical, is the recommended solution of many large
UK
organisations).
Version 2 of the RISC OS edition adds many new features and
improvements:
No copy protection
Compatibility with all RISC OS machines from 3.1 through RiscPC
(real
and virtual), to Iyonix/A9.
Overhauled user interface for a more productive and attractive
experience.
Completely redesigned photo-realistic "hands" window shows typing
posture as well as which finger to use for each key.
Updated speech system. TouchType announces which keys you should
press (amongst other audio cues), and is now able to utilise !eSpeak
for a much more comprehensive selection of key announcements.
Newly updated/rewritten manual
Additional typing exercises
And lots more!
TouchType allows the use of any text files for typing practice, and
generates reports allowing you to monitor progress. You can view
your accuracy, words per minute, and see a visual representation of
your success/failure for each key. With an attractive user interface,
and spoken audio cues, TouchType is an excellent program for all
ages. Almost everyone could do with imporoving their typing, and it
also provides excellent exercise/therepy for users of more advanced
years.
When we took on TouchType, we weren't expecting a great deal, but
we've been astounded to find what an excellent program it is.
(Indeed, the Windows version has already sold a number of copies,
without us even announcing it!). The improvements we've made have
come about because we realised its potential, and wanted to do the
best job we could at improving and enhancing it in time for
Wakefield.
TouchType for RISC OS version 2 will be available at the show
priced 19ukp, which is a significant cost saving compared with the
PC version. Bundles of both versions together are available.
Even if this isn't a product that you'd normally check out, we'd
strongly urge you to take a look - we know you'll have a pleasant
surprise - we certainly did!
Complete Animator
-----------------
We revealed that Complete Animator had joined the R-Comp fold a
couple of weeks ago, and we can now announce that it will be
available at the Wakefield show, in a new version.
The show version has had its nasty protection system neutered,
so that it will run from floppy/hard disc/network etc. This
should make it much more useful to all users.
Additionally, the support modules have been made 32bit safe,
although due to development time constraints, we haven't been
able to produce an official "Iyonix" version just yet, but the
work done allows it to work sensibly with Aemulor.
Animated GIF capability has been added to the software - you
can created web-ready animated sequences "out of the box".
New documentation is available, to help you make best use of
the software.
We feel that Complete Animator has a significant new role to
play in the web era, with its ability to create animations
for use on websites. For example, it is trivial to create
animated text or logos. Most of all, it's just great fun
to use!
The software is compatible with draw and artworks files,
as well as sprites, allowing you to bring in external art
from almost any graphics application.
Complete Animator also allows sound, but that cannot be
preserved in web animations.
We're launching the product at 30ukp, in recognition of the
fact that there's still a little way to go in terms of
giving the software the full "R-Comp Overhaul" that we like
to do with our products. Customers will receive free updates,
and the price is likely to go up in future, so get it while
it's hot!
