R-Comp Interactive is pleased to announce the availability of version 1.12
of PiTools on !Store.

PiTools is a new product released at the Wakefield Show last weekend. It
aims to bring many of the cool software features of the 4te Computer (and
its 4teTools application) to users of DIY and standalone Pi board.

The software is designed to run on, and add features to, any Pi, but Pi4 /
400 is the primary focus.

PiTools consists of a suite of software, as well as OS/firmware updates to
support latest Pi models, based on what we supply with 4te. The software
has a huge range of features ranging from monitor handling (4k, 60hz),
scaling support for old games, headless operation (eg. access over a
network rather than with monitor connected), keyboard/mouse handling and
adjustments (esp useful on Pi400, but also useful for everyone), special
monitor definition files for getting more out your monitor...

The list goes on! There's things like automatic "in desktop" network
configuration (no more waiting at startup for DHCP) for both wired and
wireless (HAT) operation, auto config of ShareFS and drives, automatic
remote access (if you wish), hotplug USB networking for older Pis and Pi
Zero...

Recovery tools are also included, and system protection. There's also
security via our LockScreen technology which is built-in, and can be
enabled at a click of a button. Online software updates, CMOS handling,
firmware updates and so on.

Basically, loads of useful stuff, which comes as standard on 4te, now
available to anyone with a Pi.

PiTools can be ordered and downloaded via !Store which can normally be
found in your Apps directory on the iconbar.

The new 1.12 version will automatically detect your firmware location,
even if it is on a different drive etc (for systems that don't boot from
Boot:Loader). This is useful for compute modules and systems which boot
from non-SDFS drives. Additionally, the latest version includes new Pi
firmware and bootloader updates which ensures the latest Pi4 boards work
correctly with RISC OS.
