I have made some enhancements to GedText my application for creating a
readable textfile from a Gedcom (family history) file. The new version
(1.10) is now released and available from any of the following three
places:
www.rural-life.org.uk/gedtext
http://www.nostalgia8.nl/genea/
www.qercus.com
The full set of changes since the first released version are documented
in a Changes file inside the application.
The main enhancements are to improve GedText's ability to process files
produced from Ancestry.com and the Ancestor+ application. The most
noticeable enhancements will probably be that it now processes SOURces
and ADOPtions correctly including any information that is
cross-referenced within the Gedcom file. A number of additional tags are
also recognised as well as a few other minor improvements.
The archive holding the application now also comes with an OvationPro
Stylesheet with styles already set up to match the formatting that
GedText can (optionally) add to the output text file.
I am particularly greatful to Chris Shepheard (at the first of the web
sites listed above) who has provided some extensive help with testing the
new version and enabled me to release it sooner than would otherwise have
been the case.
If you find GedText useful I would be very grateful if you would let me
know - it may encourage me to add further enhancements!
If you find any bugs and/or would like me to consider adding further
enhancements please also let me know.
Best wishes to all and good luck with your family history research!
