The EtherLan cards will continue to be manufactured by the
electronic production company i-cubed have used
for many years, ensuring that the current high quality is
maintained. The agreement between Design IT and
i-cubed means that we will be providing full and continuing
'back-up' support for these new arrangements.
Design IT is led by Rob Cowell, who has many years experience of
networking Acorn computers, originally
as a senior member of Dudley LEA's IT advisory and support team.
For a time he was Sales and Marketing
Manager of a leading Acorn networking company, since when he has
worked mainly as a freelance IT adviser
to schools, with an emphasis on networking. We believe that
no-one is better placed to continue to supply and
support the EtherLan product range.
Design IT will be supplying the full EtherLan product range
[#1], together with those Flash ROM upgrades which
are subject to a license charge. [Please note that ALL upgrades
to Acorn Flash ROM Ethernet cards - the Acorn
AEH series cards - are subject to such a charge.] They will also
be offering a repair service (including non-
warranty repairs) and first-line support for existing users
[#2].
Design IT are taking a short break over Easter, and it will then
take a couple of weeks to finish setting up the new
arrangements (especially for Flash ROM upgrades and repairs). So
the arrangements for the changeover are as follows:

All Sales Enquiries and Orders should go to Design IT.
Support, Technical and Repairs enquiries can still be made to
i-cubed, by email, fax (01223 566313) or - between
1.00 and 4.30pm ONLY - by phone (01223 566119) [Note that no out
of warranty returns will be accepted by i-cubed.]

ALL enquires MUST be made to Design IT. The only enquiries which
i-cubed will accept after this date will be those which
relate to returns/repairs for which an i-cubed RMA has been
issued.
Please note that currently there are NO plans to provide
additional support (should any be needed) for the use of
EtherLan cards on versions of RISC OS later than 3.7.
#1] The supply of 'combo' (10BaseT + 10Base2) cards for the
A3000 (EtherLan 102) and A5000-type podule slot
(EtherLan 512) remain subject to component availability; please
check availability before ordering.
#2] EtherLan user support is limited to matters of card
functionality. Configuration issues - including setting up
IP addressing and accessing NT servers - are entirely controlled
by non i-cubed software. Design IT may be able to assist in such
matters; indeed, they are probably better placed than i-cubed to
do so. However our view is that users cannot expect such support
to be provided free of charge.
