R-Comp Interactive announces Final Doom

R-Comp Interactive is pleased to announce the availability of
GT Interactive Software's "Final Doom" product for RISC OS.

This product contains two complete 32 level iWADs (ie. complete
games) for Doom. Although not produced by id software (the creators
of Doom) themselves, these games have been approved and accepted by
them, to the extent that later versions (1.9) had special support
for them.

The Acorn version of the Final Doom product contains the two games
(Plutonia and TNT) on CDRom, and a RISC OS Installtion disc. Because
these are complete iWADs, they contain all the data you need to
play them, so we have been able to provide a "play from CD" option
for those without a lot of free hard disc space! Indeed, with Doom+'s
Cached startup, even a slow CD can give good performance.

You will, of course, need Acorn Doom or Doom+ to run Final Doom (hence
the lower-than-usual price), although DIY users may well be OK too,
but that is unsupported.

In addition to the CD and disc, the pack includes a detailed manual
with background and storyline, an extensive FAQ (in 4 parts) with
hints, tips, cheats and solutions, and various other Doom goodies
including a list of all RISC OS specific cheats and options, and
some Doom music for while you work as well, but these are all merely
bonus padding.

The levels are notably tougher than those of Ultimate Doom or Doom 2,
and they include far more textures and graphics (both are several
Mbs larger than the earlier iWADs), and are suitable for both
singler player and network games. And the box is pretty ;->

The price of this little bundle of carnage is 15ukp inc VAT, and
overseas delivery is 2ukp.

And before anyone asks, yes, the PC version does only cost 12ukp
in the shops (and probably 10ukp in some), so what are you
paying for? Well, there's the P+P, Acorn install disc, instruction
sheet, support and VAT, coupled with the fact that being an Acorn
company, we don't buy them 100,000 at a time!
