The next meeting of the RISC OS North West User Group will be:

The MicroDigital Omega
David Atkins (Managing Director, MicroDigital Ltd)

7pm for 7:45pm, Wednesday 17th July 2002

Trafford Metrovick Rugby & Cricket Club
Finnybank Road
Sale
Cheshire
M33 6LR

The Omega needs little introduction, as one of the most eagerly awaited
RISC OS computers ever. MicroDigital's fully working prototypes appeared
for the very first time in public within the last few weeks at the Dutch
RISC OS Expo and the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club - and now RONWUG is
the next stop on David's tour!

Not only should the prototype be on display to see and try out, but David
will of course be talking about the Omega, and about MicroDigital's wider
development programme and future plans. MicroDigital's activities are
much more extensive than just producing a couple of computers, and this is
the chance to hear the details from David himself (rather than by random
rumour from other sources!) There will also be the opportunity for
questions.

As always, there should be the chance to talk about RISC OS matters more
generally, or to seek help with any problems you're having with your own
RISC OS setup. However, this aspect of the meeting may be more limited
than usual, given the presence of the Omega!

RONWUG members should be at the venue from around 6:30pm, and probably
until around 11pm (but you can arrive and leave whenever you like). All
sorts of fast food and bar services may be available from or near the
venue, but tea and coffee are usually guaranteed. As is usual with RONWUG
meetings, admittance is free, and everyone is welcome.

The venue is just a few hundred yards from M60 J7, with plentiful free
parking right outside, and easy ground floor access. It is on the bus
route from Manchester city centre, and is also about fifteen to twenty
minutes walk from Dane Road Metro station. A map can be found by
following the URL at the end of this message; contact us as below if you
need more details, or indeed any sort of assistance in reaching the
meeting.

If you're unfortunate enough to be unable to reach this meeting, you can
find a detailed report on MicroDigital's appearance at the RISC OS Expo in
the next issue of Acorn User magazine, and photographs of the WROCC event
(and hopefully soon the RONWUG event!) at http://www.myriscos.co.uk/
Do also check out MicroDigital's own web magazine (covering a variety of
topics, not just their own products) at http://www.microdigital.co.uk/

Finally, just a quick reminder that subsequent RONWUG meetings at the same
venue will be held on the third Wednesday evening of each month. Thus the
next meetings *after* 17th July will be Wednesday 21st August 2002 and
then Wednesday 18th September 2002. We hope that the 21st August meeting
will feature a presentation from a RiscStation Ltd representative on the
software available for the RiscStation desktop.
