WAKEFIELD RISC OS COMPUTER CLUB
Elesar
------
Meeting on Wednesday 7th December at 7.45pm
Rob Sprowson of Elesar will start by taking a look at the introduction of
speech synthesis on the BBC Micro, how that worked down at the silicon
level, then move on to how to recreate the experience using PIC
microcontrollers developed on RISC OS.
Breaking free of the limited vocabulary of the past, desktop applications
can now Speak entirely with software implementations -- one example being
TextEase. Plus Rob will take a sneak preview of some upcoming features for
version 6 of the package.
Rob will be visiting us in person at the West Yorkshire Sports & Social
Club.
This 'hybrid' meeting is open to all: it will be taking place at the West
Yorkshire Sports & Social Club, but will also be accessible using the Zoom
conferencing service for those who can't or don't wish to attend in person.
Naturally we would prefer as many people to attend in person as possible, as
we have a 'live' guest.
IMPORTANT: For those attending on Zoom, this meeting will use a different
set of meeting details from the usual ones. Zoom invitations will be sent
out ahead of the meeting, but only to those who email
info...@wrocc.org.uk
to request one. If you would like to be part of the meeting (and don't
receive an invite in the next 24 hours as a member of WROCC), please RSVP --
at the latest by the end of Tuesday 6th December.
If you haven't used Zoom before, we suggest that before Wednesday you try to
join the Zoom test meeting at
https://zoom.us/test on the device that you
intend to use, in order to check that your system works OK. You will not
require a Zoom account to take part.
