RCI announce 32bit/Enhanced Descent 1 and 2 update

RCI is pleased to announce the release of 32bit enhanced versions
of Descent 1 and Descent 2 for RISC OS machines.
The enhancements are as follows:
Descent 1
32bit safe - Iyonix compatible
Includes performance enhancements from Descent 2 giving
improved framerate
Bi-linear filtering for smooth textures close up, giving
a 3D-accelerated look/feel
Transparency effects
Improved lighting model on enemy ships - results in
more in-depth gameplay as light/darkness plays an important role
High resolution images to replace the original low res art
Higher resolution gameplay in 8/16/32bpp screen modes (Iyonix
allows for higher video modes)
New sound system with 16bit audio support
Descent 2
32bit safe - Iyonix compatible
High resolution and low resolution movie sequences - movies
can run from hard disc or from CD
Performance enhancements for smoother gaming
Milli-second timing gives smoother play
New sound system with 16bit audio support, and high quality
audio effects
Improved lighting model on enemy ships - results in
more in-depth gameplay as light/darkness plays an important role
(D2 already included things like Bi-linear filtering, transparency,
high res/high colour graphics etc.)
The upgrade pack contains both and costs 15ukp inclusive for
existing owners.
Whilst this update is clearly targetted at Iyonix owners, Strongarm
RiscPC users may well also benefit from this update, and new features
such as the Descent 2 movies work on those machines too.
We also have a very few full copies of the double-pack left
(literally just a few) priced at 35ukp inclusive of VAT/UK delivery.
The Descent games are 3D action games, played from a first person
perspective from the cockpit of a spacecraft. The player explores various
enemy occupied mines in a fully 3D space (including above and below). Please
