The Blue-Eyed Maid (upstairs in the Spice Lounge restaurant)
173 Borough High Street
London

For those who were not able to make it to the London Show, or who just
want a chance for a more thorough examination, at this month's meeting
there will be a 1GHz BeagleBoard-xM running RISC OS.
We hope to have it running many of the major applications that you
know and love!
Also, for anyone not on broadband who wants to see the videos of the
show theatre presentations, bring blank CDs to take away copies.
Everyone else can download them from the show website, where you will
also find lots of photos:

January Meeting
===============
Apologies for those expecting to see Stephen Streater at this month's
meeting, but he has had to reschedule his presentation to our meeting
on 17th January 2011. This is because in his role as head of Forbidden
Technologies, producer of web based video editing systems, he has been
called out of the country on a business meeting.
RISC OS users will know Stephen from when he formed Eidos Technology
to produce the Optima offline video editing system on the RiscPC.
While competing systems of the time needed expensive dedicated
hardware and large fixed disc arrays, using advanced ARM coded
routines Optima was able to do the work in software using cheap
removable discs.
There were also rumours that Stephen tried to buy out the workstation
division and release the Phoebe (RiscPC2) when Acorn was closed down.
This could be a chance to find out the true story.
The usual arrangements
======================
Admittance is free and everyone is welcome. A range of hot and cold
food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, will be on sale.
Anyone with wireless enabled handhelds or laptops can access the
internet during the meeting, or (if time allows) use ROUGOL's RiscPC
to do so after the main presentation has finished.
The venue is between London Bridge and Borough tube stations, so
readily accessible by public transport (both stations are a five
minute walk away, through well lit and CCTV'd main streets). It also
has ample cycle parking (covered by CCTV) very close by.
If you are arriving by car, the Congestion Charge ends at 6pm and our
meeting starts much later. However, please note that parking on double
red lines is restricted at all times. On single red or yellow lines,
it is best to park after 7pm. If you aren't completely familiar with
*central* London parking or driving, please allow extra time,
patience, and maps.
If you need any help reaching the venue, or any other information,
please contact us as below.
