As the old adage goes, if you do not have something pertinent to say it's
best not to say it. This has been the reason behind the late arrival of our
third issue, but it's one we believe is a real corker... ideal for the new
school year, be you an educationalist or not!

FEATURES / REVIEWS
* Education uncovered
More details of the latest Sherston releases
* Hard Disc Companion 2000
A review of the latest from BEEBUG
* DarcWorld
Two games reviewed; plus news of a special CD-ROM
* Emulation
... is the greatest form of flattery. Or is it? Here we highlight ways in
which a computer can be emulated legally.
* Type-In Mania
Top Class Nostalgia, for those who miss the Yellow Pages(TM) from Acorn
User(TM)

SPECIALS
* Which Way Now?
A frank roundup of the options available for upgrading your computer -
likewise, in the light of the news below, which other magazines exist for
the Acorn user?

I've decided to remove the magazine disc, as this adds significantly to the
cost, and for some people is of very little interest. A CD-ROM will be
released within two weeks of publication of this issue, containing all
existing files for Smash/RiscAction magazines. There's a big reason for
this...
...issue three of Smash is the last one. Unfortunately, with the current
state of the RISC OS market there is not a sufficient level of interest to
justify continuing publication. I shall be involved with RISC World, from
this point.

Given all of this, I've decided to modify the way in which the magazine can
be obtained. If you're a RISC World subscriber, but would like to receive a
printed copy of Smash#3, the price is 1ukp plus a stamped addressed A5
envelope. Please tape a 1ukp coin to a piece of card, and send it to the
address below. The full third issue of Smash will be included on a future
issue of RISC World.

If you're not a RISC World subscriber, the price is 2ukp plus a stamped
addressed envelope. We do, of course, recommend any of the subscription
magazines as ideal points for the Acorn reader, depending upon what you're
after. Foundation RISC User, RISC World, Archive and Acorn Publisher are
classy mags...well worthy of a read!

Contact details are as follows:
Foundation RISC User - mailto:found...@riscos.com
RISC World - mailto:subscr...@riscworld.com
Archive - mailto:sa...@archivemag.co.uk
Acorn Publisher - mailto:aka...@kbnet.co.uk

My email address shall remain da...@smashuk.com for the moment, so should
you wish to contact me please do so via that address - it won't change in
the distant future.

Other than that, best regards to all!
