I subscribed 6 months ago hoping to learn something about the
"state-of-the-art" in voice recognition from the user's perspective.
A friend was seriously interested in using SR for writing, and where
better to learn about people's *actual* experiences than a Usenet
group entitled "comp.speech.USERS"?

easy thing and most always turns into some type of flaming war.
Here are my qualifications. Certified and trained for Philips
SpeechMagic, IBM ViaVoice, IBM Medspeak, Kurzweil VoiceMed, Dragon
NaturallySpeaking Enterprise & L&H VoiceXpress.
I am a member of several newsgroups in the microphone industry (more
than just computer mics). I see vendors posting all the time and as
long as you are not a member of the newsgroup, there aren't constant
one-up battles.
I'm sure one or two of your cheerleaders will probably join in and
if I lived on these newsgroups, I am sure I would have a few
cheerleaders of my own. However, I don't have time to fight.

these long posts and calling names is really getting on the level of
immature, addictive, consuming, fanatical and scary.
With this pattern of behaviour, the next step is usually

constant battle. Only with you Marty. You don't see speech recognition
dealers doing this do you?

I have seen posts from you that link to as many as 8 direct links to
your website (all in one post) and your signatures fall within 5 or
10 lines long. In my book, that's called SPAMMING.
