nethack 3.1 problems: Can't dismiss window!

Running X11R5, Ultrix 4.3(44) on a DECstation 5000/20:

I can't dismiss the window that starts "It is written in the book of xxx:".
Does anyone have any idea about what could be wrong? I have tried all
options in NetHack.ad, but none helps. (And yes, I do run xrdb :-)

Any help appreciated.

I don't know anything about the X version, but the proper option is
"nolegacy". Try including it in either your configuration file or your
environmental variable (NETHACKOPTIONS, I believe).

Thanks, that really helped. However, the bug (?) remains - I can't dismiss
any other text windows. It seems that dismiss_text() never gets called. Does
anyone here know how and when it _should_ get called? I'm completely puzzled,
this X windows stuff is all new to me :->

Oddly enough menu type windows (like the inventory window) works as they
are supposed to.
