Looks like doom has arrived in California. They're in a world of shit:
*****
Larry Gerston, a political scientist at San Jose State University,
said Schwarzenegger's budget plan gives lawmakers a choice between
"Armageddon and Armageddon-lite."
"At this point if we're not talking about a doomsday scenario, it's
pretty close," Gerston said.
And one financial adviser likened California to Detroit, one of the
most financially troubled U.S. cities whose credit rating has been cut
to junk status.
Tom Tarabicos, a financial adviser at Covenant Wealth Group of Wells
Fargo Advisors Financial Network LLC in Roswell, Georgia, said
California's finances are under so much stress that he will not hold
the state's debt.
"I have sold all of my clients' municipal bonds related to the state
of California and any of its municipalities. ... A real disaster is
developing in California," Tarabicos said.

Hey! *I* am in California. When is the last shopping day, John?

I've known people who no longer work on remediation projects, sure... but
thus far - and my experience, granted, is limited - I've yet to hear of
anyone who has lost a job because of an arithmetic calculation due to The
Big Rollover, no.

Wow, you really are in denial. An oblivious idiot. The US is losing
600,000 jobs a month. California is expecting a 40 billion dollar
deficit over 2009-2010 under optimistic assumptions. Wake up and smell
the coffee...
"If you're not petrified, you're a damn fool."

I'm having Sumatran this morning.

Leaving aside the obvious question of how one might disagree with that
assertion withougt being further accused of 'being in denial' - 'by
disagreeing with my layman's diagnosis of denial you demonstrate your
denigal!' - then all you need to do is something rather simple:
Deonstrate that someone has lost a jobe because of an arithmetic
calculation due to the The Big Rollover.
Once you have a case that all can examine then discussion might commence,
all else is readily eliminated as non-existence is the default state...
the onus probandi rests on the one making the assertion, you know.
