Hi,
I have a user problem with the Xanim application ...
I have used it for a long time, under Solaris, Mandrake, Mandriva,
Mageia in 32bits mode, and now under Kubuntu 14.04 in 64bits mode.
I use Xanim from <
http://xanim.polter.net/> to display animated GIF
like the following one, built with `convert` command from ImageMagick
<

The GIF animation is perfect with the WEB navigator, but with Xanim
there's a transparency problem, with the alpha channel in RGBA 32bits.
With Xanim, the image is displayed nearly all in white, with a
slight transparency, that shows the background of the screen,
superimposed. It seems to me that the problem comes from X11, and
the Alpha channel handling (RGBA). Because there's not only the
GIF image that is badly displayed, but also the command panel of
Xanim. The display is done with the XPutImage() function from XWindow.
It seems to me that the problem mainly occurs with 64bits GNU/Linux
distributions. The problem wasn't reported on the WEB, yet.
Thanks to give me any further information. I tried to contact Mark
Podlipec the author of Xanim. But his Email address that is given
in the README file is not valid anymore.
If you have any further information, please answer. That may help.
Best regards,
