I have a clearcase problem... I forgot to label a very important point
on Thursday, and then development went on from there. I want to find
out if there is a way to set a config spec based on date - so I can
say show me the branch as of Thursday so I can go back and label it. I
thought I remembered my old clearcase admin doing things like that,
but I have looked through my manuals and can't seem to find a way to
do it.
Thanks,
brindle
Here's an example config spec that uses a time rule. It will only pull
things off the /main branch onto mybranch if they were checked in
before June 6. If you're using unix, "man config_spec" has lots of
info. I'm not familiar with the documentation format for windows, but I
would imagine that searching for config_spec should get you somewhere.
element * CHECKEDOUT
element * .../mybranch/LATEST
element * /main/LATEST -time 06-Jun-02 -mkbranch mybranch

Jason

I think that a config spec as shown below might help you out...
> element * CHECKEDOUT
> element * /<branchname>/LATEST -time Date-Month.Hours:Minutes
> element * /main/LATEST
The second rule turns back the clock on that branch to the time
specified. The rule would look like the following with actual data:
> element * /major/LATEST -time 12-Nov.16:00
By the way, I excerpted this example data from the CC 4.1 User's Manual,
pg. 86.
Hope this helps...

You're looking for the "time" (or "-time") option.

Um, since he sounds new, you might want to remind him that it's
"cleartool man config_spec", not "man config_spec".
